Some Hypocrisy Here

Social and political criticisms

He is not on trial.  Who is?

As I listened to the judgement of CJ Corona  I shudder at the Holier than thou attitudes of the judges. There was hypocrisy of the highest order. Those who judged on integrity, on the  culpable violation of the constitution:consist of womanizers, of political dynasty, of  former executors of the martial law, and we are not sure ourselves whether their SALN are accurate.

As CJ have challenged them, they all should sign the waiver.

And lately they have discovered a property in Forbes Park allegedly owned by adopted child of Sen.... (he did no sign a waiver... because he was not on trial...)

When will this all end?  And now Pnoy does not want to sign a waiver?   Sino maniniwala sa tamang daan?

Change of National Heroes and Icons

Social and political criticisms

With the recent events at the CJ Corona trial,  and other stories, it is time we change our national heroes and icons.

Apolinario Mabini, the sublime paralytic should be the national hero replacing  Dr. Jose Rizal.

The wheelchair should be a national icon.

The Marcos Leadership is Coming Back?

Social and political criticisms

Sen Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos cast an unpopular not guilty vote.  However, one should admire his eloquence and clarity of thought (if he wrote his vote speech).  One recalls the eloquence of his late father.

And we have to watch out more his moves and plans for his political career.

CJ Corona Convicted; Will there be More?

Social and political criticisms

Now it is over, CJ Renato Corona has been convicted of Article 2, SALN.  It reminds us how the high and the mighty, like Al Capone, was downed not by high crimes but a simple matter with their financials.

The Senator judges has rendered the judgement just one of the high public officials.  But but what happens next?  What about those who have not been caught.  I am sure the other justices and fmr CJ had one what the current CJ had done before.  Will they be investigated too?

What about the other officials:  senators, congressmen, provincial commanders, generals, cabinet secretaries?

Will this event stop/discourage other corrupt officials

The Facebook 30% Slide in Market Value in one Week

Social and political criticisms

The Facebook market cap slid by 30% in one week. That is probably the biggest loss of an IPO right after the offering.  If the IPO is worth $l00 billion, then that is a whopping $30 billion loss;  it is not chicken feed or peanuts.  That is a lot lot bigger than the $2billion trading loss of JP Morgan.

It is a mea culpa for those who went ahead buying FB stock.  It was a popular, trending social media, but with no real solid business model and cash flows.  It was, just like the idea it was promoting, highly socialized;  but business wise.....

All that glitters and/or popular is not gold...

This is the reason why the IPO bombed out.  The numbers, the financials will set you free.  The revenues and the Gross Profit are not that high to justify the high market  cap.  The net income would not even amount to $lbillion per year.  It would take more than l00 years for investors to have their ROE.  The PE ratio is simply too high
