Word War Between Mainland Chinese and HK Residents

Reflections

With the influx of mainland Chinese to HK, there is a growing animosity between the Mainland Chinese who are tourists and the HK residents.  It was shown in Al Jazeera that some of the causes of irritants are defecation of Chinese children on the streets, bringing up smelly feet in trains and public places and other forms of uncouth behavior.

What do you think of this growing word war?

Isnt it that tourism influx is good for HK;  it is encouraging tourists to come in?  Isnt this influx propping up HK economy?

What must be done so that there is less friction and animosity and its win win for both parties.

We Should Really be Proud of Ourselves as Pinoys.

Reflections

I just came from travel abroad in Southeast Asian countries.  And they were not very nice.  In a hotel in famous free port, the porter asked me to carry my luggage.  In a no star hotel in the PHL, that action is unthinkable or unheard of.  The driver of a van for hire was cursing when we were late for a couple of minutes in the pick up point. We cursed back in the vernacular!  Here we are spending our hard earned money being cursed by a..... (mere driver)

In another Asian country, when they say it cant be, it cant be and will wave your hand across your face. Drivers are naughty and they will fool you with long circuitous route (as in PHL),  Are we given a dose of our own medicine.

I think in terms of hospitality, grace, courtesy, we are better than them.  That is why most cruise ships and hotels hire Pinoys.

Pinoys be proud.

The Days of A Supreme Western Nation as the World's Leading is Over?

Reflections

Sad to say, the country that is our ally and who liberated us (and massacred millions of our natives in a war involving them and us in l898) is seeing its glory days over.  Its massive expenditures on the arms race, patrollling the seas with its multibillion submarines, planes, ships, military bases and massive lending to the banks to finance real estate and housing bubble is telling on its massive debt, currency and the government.s ability to stay afloat.

l.  Since August of 20ll, its debt has grown by another l.5 trillion dollars.  Up to 200l, its debt was only about 7 trillion dollars.  Since that time, it grew to l4 trillion up to July 2011 (when they have the debt limit law debate)

2.  Payments of payables are delayed.

3.  The Federal Reserve Bank is infusing more credit into the economy:  via loans to bank, more money (although they are saying they are not printing more money)  But digital money is created electronically.

4.  Its operation is financed by massive debt abroad and the debts from this country is now just trickling in, no longer as floods

5.  Even their own savvy investors are warning against investment in government securities;

6.  Unemployment is a big problem;

7.  Loss of productivity and more cash in circulation is fanning inflation (massive spikes in prices of fuel and food items)

Let us pray for them

PNOYs Tamang Daan Does not Apply to Cabinet Men?

Reflections

I would have admired l00% the Tamang Daan of PHL president.  Were it not for two incidents:  the guy who bought pirated DVDs, and the guy who heads PAGCOR.  They were not punished or subjected to the same strict standards as for the CJ.  I am not pro CJ, but if this govt is to look for Tamang Daan it must be fair and just.  Fair and just.

As it is, there are cronies, classmates, shooting mates who are exempted.

No wonder Eli Sorianos  Dating Daan is growing stronger everyday

Unemployment Benefits Stimulates Economy?

Reflections

A Shenior official of a leading Western Nation recently commented that unemployment benefits are good for the ec0nomy.  That is right in the context of the situation her country is situated.  However she can be quoted out of context and could be severely censured for making such a weird statement.

We all thought that the way to spark the economy is through the new jobs and new industries and entrepreprneurship.

Socialism is dead;  comuunism is bankrupt;  social capitalism is alive.

A new thinking is needed in that government which is now a wobbly giant.  The currency is being attacked by massive inflation brought about by massisve debt and massive infusion of credit by their central bank.

We pray at his point when many of their citizens are disowning God and even ridiculing Jesus Christ in their popular tv show, that they will survive this crisis.

I am not mentioning the name of the country because I will apply for a visa soon to their country.  I do not mind if my visa is denied though.

Consolidation of the Health Care System by a Business Mogul

Reflections

Many hospitals in the PHL are being bought by mogul who has consolidated the utilities so far:  broadcast TV, tollways, electricity, and lately hospitals.  At the end of the day, he would have controlled vital industries to the country.  Health for instance.

His group which owns several hospital all ready, got last year almost half billion in profits which is substantial.

Will this acquisition improve the quality and cost of health care in the country.

It is an area that government as it is in the habit of, to look into.  Will the cost of health care go up?

Will it be less affordable to our all ready suffering populace?  What must the government do to counter this continuous commercialization of health care?

Shall we go by way of Eastern medicine?  What must we do to cater to the masses of people who can not afford basic health care?

We Will Look Into That?!

Si Filosofo Tasyo ay patuloy sa pagpilosopo

Why is it everytime there are complaints to government bureaucrats, the typical kneejerk reaction is:  we will look into that?   Are they not looking?  What are they doing?   Are they blind or deaf.

And as usual, if they are investors or tourists group, they do something:  they dump PHL.  Period.

Women Battling over the remains of a Dead Man

Si Filosofo Tasyo ay patuloy sa pagpilosopo

It is sort of funny when the wife or women of the dead man are battling for the body of the deceased as in the case of the deceased congressman from the the Visayas;  his women are vying for the possession of the body of the deceased in a foreign land.

Is it for the love of the guy why they are battling?  It that is the case how admireable and worthy?

But what is the real motive. ?

It is the inheritance, it the estate left by the man.  It is all for the love.....of money.

Money money money money, not honey

The Ways of the Rules ofl Court at the CJ Impeachment Trial

Si Filosofo Tasyo ay patuloy sa pagpilosopo

The current impeachment trial of CJ Corona is a display of how byzantine the rules of court, and court proceedings are.  However looking closely, the rules of court follows strict logic, cause and effect, clear logic, and relevance.

This is the same stuff taught in case method and case analysis.

Relevance:   In the issue of the probity of the CJ why was the evidence on the perks at PAL disregarded?

Clarity of thinking   Why was the issue of ill gotten thrown off in the presentation of SALN?

How has the defense exploited these flaws and weaknesses of the prosecution?  What is the lesson for the prosecution?  How will they pick up the pieces?

The Presiding Judge did not consider the junking of the complaint and instead having a pre trial on the theory that the impeachment charge was hastily done and not read by the congressmen who signed the complaint.  As it it is, this is the case.  How many times was Cong Tupas challenged to change the complaint to include the evidence being presented?

As for the FCD, the senators can not risk violating the law.  It is guaranteed by the law that no such inquiry is to be made.

Now it is coming out that the bank deposit accounts copies were illegally obtained (through AMLA) and that there discrepancies (and therefore there are doubts cast on the evidences (which by far are the most damaging).  Do not be shocked if the deposit accounts at PSB are to be considered illegally obtained and are thus to be disregarded.

As for Sen Santiago, she really has one of the brilliant minds there is among the judges.  Do not mistake her tirades for anything else.  She knows her laws very well, and the young prosecutors dont.

As for the commentators in the TV shows, the lawyers there who make their commentaries for and against either side does not help one peel the truth.

On the influencing of the decision of SC, it is correct to say that the Sec of Justice testimony are mere hearsays and do not have any consequence to the complaint.

As it is, is the prosecution or the defense that has the upper hand?

That is why it is correct to say that the one who wins has the best lawyer.  As it is my admiration goes to the defense.

Dynasty in the Philippine Government.

Si Filosofo Tasyo ay patuloy sa pagpilosopo

I know that there is a provision in the new constitution that prohibits the dynasty.  However, no enabling legislation that was passed or will ever be passed to enforce this constitutional prohibition (isnt this unconstitutional and therefore illegal if ever one was discovered to have violated this?  Come on constiitutional experts.)

I was aghast when my daughter asked me during the impeachment trial:

l.  Why are there two Senators with the same surname? Why is there a senator and congresswoman of the same surname?  Isnt there a leak all the time?

2.  Why is it in our province, the surname of the officials are the same?  Sometimes it is the father, the mother and the son (but the father really runs the show)

3.  In MM city, it was the father, then the wife, then the son and back to the father, and then the son (to beat the 9 years maximum continuous service)

4.  There was time that there was the father, the son in law, and the son in the senate.

Why they have made the Phil government or august halls of Senate their household?

Are these people the lawmakers (and right at the start they are the lawbreakers?)

Spirito ng EDSA

Si Filosofo Tasyo ay patuloy sa pagpilosopo

Politicians really love high impact symbolic events that give them a sense of heroism and greatness.  But at the end of the day, there is nothing to it and everything is empty and hollow.

The religious and the civil society and the anti showed mighty forces before.  But like any political activity, it was to the victor belongs the spoils, and those who were not there are now in power and now share the spoils.

Did we see many who were punished;  was PCGG successful in running after ill gotten wealth?  Were there really palpable results.  I will tell you, corruption is worse and abuse is worse than during the martial law.  Whereas before there was one, now it has multiplied.  There are now hordes of corrupt and abusive people.

Reform must really come from within, and not from external affairs just like EDSA uno or EDSA dos.

He Who is Clean Cast the First Stone

Si Filosofo Tasyo ay patuloy sa pagpilosopo

We are not sure who has sinned in the current CJ trial.  But as of now, there are  a lot of mudslinging going on.  The head of prosecution panel has a multi million house.  This congressman has this big house too.

The whole government of the PHL is on trial.  Who has not committed a sin?
