Did BBM victory in election cause Peso freefall

It is more fun criticizing

In one of the soc media post. it was alleged that BBM victory did the Peso in.   The Peso now at P55 = USD has become one of the worst performing currencies in the region.  It was alleged that many heads
of Western countries do not trust BBM's abilities and hence are divesting from the Philippines

But Western countries sent delegation to BBMs oath taking today.

A strong dollar, not  a weak peso is not the cause of peso freefall. The critic must have made all his analyses wrong tried to scam the readers  US Fed has to raise interest due to raging inflation.

A devalued peso: means OFW get more bucks from their remittances.    We get more foreign investment

Exporters get more.   The devaluation is not entirely bad for the country.  Although importation of raw materials and capital goods become more exspenasive

Evidence of massive fraud in last election may be difficult to prove

It is more fun criticizing

Many foreign entities are crying out loud that there was massive fraud during the last election.   If it were the case the other proclamation for local senatorial, congressional election can be considered null and void.   No less than former commissioners associated with the opposition has declared it is nearly impossible to hack the election system

Many of the accusations are based in hypothetical suppositions and needs massive data to prove.   It is merely a topic as some experts claim as topic for academic discussion

The accusations are not enough to overturn the result of election

BNPP (nuclear power plant) may reduce power costs - ERC

It is more fun criticizing

This post echoing past position of DOE dont think so.    The high cost of amortizing the BNPP, maintenance, fuel rods, and disposal of the nuclear waste would not bring down cost.

As per computation of former Sec of Energy in his speech before MBA students, he said that assuming that BNPP can sell power at P3.00 kwh,  or 50% of the outputs of baseloads, that would amount to
only 600 mw /`10,000 MW Luzon grid, that would amount to only 6% of total power.    That would roughly be only   50%  x  P6,00 x 6%    only P0.18 of total generation cost.   That is not enough to offset the high energy cost brought about by the IPP with forced to buy agreements.

Despite all the arguments, Fukushima experience with the tsunami brought by earthquake,  (Japan eventually giving up on nuclear power and shifting to other energy sources) our energy managers would seem to be bent on going back to nuclear.

Tigil pasada due to fuel price increases and losses of public utilities - a violation of Public Service act of 1934

It is more fun criticizing

There are news that say that many public utilities that include but not limited to jeepneys, vans, and vans have stopped plying their designated routes due to latest fuel price increases despite certificates of public conveyance and/or franchise granted by LTFRB.    Initially they can viewed as having violated the law. CA 146

Now the riding public is inconvenienced.

Anti commuter.  Anti people.

Cebu loosens rule on face mask; DILG disagrees

It is more fun criticizing

Governor Gwen Garcia invoking superiority of local govt over central govt in Local Govt Code, orders loosening of rules on face mask. making it optional outdoors  However DILG disagrees and voids the same order.  The pandemic is still prevalent

The Local Govt Code cant be invoked because the country is still in state of pandemic  Non cooperation is a prohibition which is punishable under the governing law.

ection 9 of the law provides for the acts which are prohibited, namely:

(a) Unauthorized disclosure of private and confidential information pertaining to a patient’s medical condition or treatment;

(b) Tampering of records or intentionally providing misinformation;

(c)      Non-operation of the disease surveillance and response systems;

(d)      Non-cooperation of persons and entities that should report and/or respond to notifiable diseases or health events of public concern; and

(e)      Non-cooperation of the person or entities identified as having the notifiable disease, or affected by the health event of public concern.

Disclosure of confidential information will not be considered violation of this Act if the disclosure was made to comply with a legal order issued by a court of law with competent jurisdiction.

Notable today amid the COVID-19 crisis is the issue on self-quarantine. When an individual does not self-quarantine in case of infection, he or she may be liable under Sec. 9, paragraph d of RA 11332, for non-cooperation of persons and entities that should report and/or respond to notifiable diseases or health events of public concern.

Delicadeza - avoiding midnight appointments

It is more fun criticizing

Several constitutional positions - Comelec commissioners, COA  were bypassed during the last session of Commission of Appointments due to lack of quorum.   Perhaps it is really a courteous way of letting the  incoming administration have a free hand in selection of nominees.

The past Senate should be congratulated for this gracious act of delicadeza.   There was past regimes of passing midnight actions and appointments.

After Covid difficulties, we are confronted with higher prices (inflation)

It is more fun criticizing

This week, the masses are facing a new round of big time fuel prices for diesel as much as P6.30  - P6.60/per liter.  With no fare increase in sight, the jeepney drivers are complaining.

The increase of prices cover:     pan de sal, meat products, condiments, other bread products.    The price increases are caused by increase in cost of inputs:     transportation, the Ukraine Russia war, adjustment in GP.   All ready certain businessmen are getting bad vibes about business in USA like Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan, and Ellon Musk of Tesla (who called for cuts in staffing and hiring)

What are some of the solution to the fuel price increase:

1.  Appeal by drivers to those who do not pay their fare, or do not pay the right amount;
2.  Request by driver to operators to reduce boundary from P500. to P450.  (a 10% decrease)
3.  Elimination of  excise taxes.  It looks like a no go option because the govt will lose about P200 billion
     in revenues.  A huge loss

May be this is the right time to fast and be fit:
1.  Walk do not ride;
2.   Reduce food intake
3.   Look for alternatives for your present food choices

Will Supreme Court act on DQ case filed before BBM

It is more fun criticizing

Despite comments by various citizen groups that SC still has the power to declare BBM as not qualified to be the President, it most unlikely that it will do so:

1.   BBM has now been proclaimed as President by NBOC;   the DQ case was overtaken by events;
2.   If BBM is not qualified to be candidate it should have been done early on when he ran for:
      1.   Senator,    2.  Vice President.  If he is not qualified now then he should be DQ'd then
3.   It is very unlikely that a person elected by sovereign will of the people can be overturned by decision
      of an appointive body.

Various scenario:
1.   SC justices will not act on petition or act on it at 6th year of BBM office;
2.   SC justices being appointee of Duterte will act on it, and elevate SD the Presidents daughter to Presidency.  (a remote possibility because)
3.   If BBM is disqualified, the next highest number of votes will become the President LR.

We do understand though and there is a precedent that an elective official after having been discovered as an American citizen was DQ'd by a PET and the BBM detractors might be able to do this.

This post anticipate a slew of defamation and cyber crimes to the individuals who called out BBM with hideous names and tags.
