Von Tron Tanto says nagdilim ang paningin and apologizes to family of Mark Geralde

One of the events that draw so much attention and buzz (was trending for the week) was the shooting by Von Tron, and Army reservist based in Caloocan of biker Mark Geralde at P Casal in Quiapo last Monday.  First of all it was caught on video and the conduction sticker was visible:  Why was it so popular:

1. The shooting was so brazen and cruel.  It was visible via CCTV, and yet the assailant, in view of the million viewers, just like in the Vietnam war pictures in life shot Geralde once in the head at close range, and then pumped in more bullets in the fallen body of Geralde.  How cruel

2.  We ;puke at so many deaths, and extra judicial killings of alleged drug pushers. Did Von Tron think he was a vigilante or one of those licensed to do extra judicial execution ?  We also fear that some of those licensed to kill the criminals could run out of control just like Geralde

3. It impacts the current conflict between motor vehicle owners and bikers - the idea of road sharing.  The MV owners since they pay for licenses and registration  think and or have the mistaken idea that they own both the car and the road.  Hence, they are pissed off with the bikers that is why they honk, bump them off or simply run them over.  In this case, after bumping Geralde, and engaging the latter in a fistfight, had to use his death weapon on the latter.

4.  It brings to mind the right to carry arms the right to arms (Do we have second amendment in the Phil Constitution) yet despite the violence in US we still ape Americans who fight for their right to carry arms. But whatever they say that firearms do not kill, only out of control and deranged individuals who fire the guns kill, possessing a gun increases the chances that there will be someone who will get hurt or killed if one has a gun. (That is why I rid myself of the guns some 20 years ago)  Guns in the possession of even educated and decent people, when enraged can hurt and kill.

5. We must review the privilege as a come on to Reservist to own possess (and carry) 3 guns:  2 short high caliber weapon and a rifle. That is why Von Tron had plenty of guns.  Maybe reservist when in training can use the Military Weapons but cant buy or carry them outside their home

6.  Some say that Tanto is a Muslim.  Does this reflect the hatred that Muslims have for those who do not share their religion?

Why is traffic at Ortigas (from Meralco) and RosarioC5 (Lanuza and Rosario) sooo bad?

I commuted last Tuesdayfrom Edsa Crossing going home to Eastern Rizal.  I had to take the jeep not the van because the jeep took the Ortigas Highway going to crossing and it too was going back the same route.  The floodway route is sooooo bad at the fish port (intersection of floodway and highway 2000)

While the whole trip as shorter than taking the floodway (thanks fo the driver for making the call)
the Meralco to Rosario segment, I bet nearly took more than one hour. Why?

         1.  The Lanuza left turn, and the left turn  going in reverse to a plush subdivision  The two traffic lights  at the junction, and the traffic light at Meralco road and at Rosario creates gridilock that really realllllly slows down the traffic.   The long queues blocks the tail end of each of the line of vehicles  (Eg, those turning left coming from Ortigas and Lanuza cant turn left because they are held up by the stop light at Lanuza

       2.  Vehicles coming from Tiendesitas to Ortigas also blocks the Ortigas Traffic.  Baka dapat umikot na lang sila sa Julia Vargas or Lanuza

       3. Traffic light at Lanuza.  Those coming down from Ortigas cant move because of the very tight build up of vehicles at C5 becasue of the Lanuza traffic light near Diamond Motors.  Likewise build up of vehicles going from Bagong Ilog to Eastwood because of the Eastwoold Traffic light.

Our traffic genius/planners must do something to ease this daily punishment to the commuters and motoring public.  Let us do what Francis did to traffic in this area.

Dont we have simulation software on how we can reduce build up and traffic jams here

Clarity of vision the SONA or long winded speech because of Ad Lib

Was it a that depicts clarity of vision or long and winded?

Former Ateneo School of Govt (ASG) Dean Tony Lavina that it was long winded and clouded.  He talked about war vs drugs, peace and order and concern for the people.  But the adlibs, from the point of view of academics, disorganized the speech.

But Duterte was focussed in his speech on what he stood for and will be relentless.  The content and the direction of the speech may sound simple according to Ted Locsin in his Teditorial,   but that is the task of the leader - to simplify the vision in a complicated world and focus on a couple of things. and being relentless and determined about it.  His experience and knowledge as a politician and prosecutor tells him that is what country need and what he must do.

Longest SONA in history delivered by Pres Duterte today `1:32 hours and very practical and pro Filipino

The longest SONA in history was delivered by Pres. Duterte his first to the joint Senate and Congress session.  The emphasis again of the President was peace and his unending drive vs drugs, criminality and corruption.  Analyst would say that many of the pronouncement of the President which are pro people and pro poor would place him to be socialist, left of center.

Some of the key issues he tackled:

1  Announcement of unilateral ceasefire with CPP NDF. Let us not love one another more but hate each other less. The armed struggle is going nowhere;

2.  Federalism to promote ending peace in Mindanao; said we must emulate the French model.

3.  Some practical moves that touch the lives of many people:

      1.  Five year drivers license

      2.  License plate at Point of Sale (car dealers)

     3.  All OFW clearances within one building

     4.  Ten year passport;   more satellite offices for DFA for passport issuance

4. Relocation of Airport to Clark, for private jets and helicopter to Sangley

5.  3 day processing of docs both at local and national level.  He will follow the Davao template and even shame offices who will fail in this.

6.  More trains, extension of LRT services;  train tickets available at Malls and other locations

7. No demolition without relocation.  Businessmen who bought land can chip in for the relocation

     1. Rice subsidy to the very poor

8.  Environmental policies must not prevent industrialization

9.  Processes to be speeded up to encourage business coming in.

10  Human rights must not destroy the rest of the Filipino nation

11.   We need power to industrialize and coal is cheapest so far;  we cant agree to Kyoto protocol on carbon emission

12.  This is going to be a clean govt.   Even a whisper will merit investigation

13.  The drug lords are not here.  They are abroad

14  Full implementation of Reproductive Health law to limit size of families, make people workers more productive in their work

15  Faster internet:

     1.  Strengthening the broadband backbone

     2. Free wifi in public places:  seaport, airport, parks, libraries

The President clearly addressed the needs the issues of common people.  He advised Congress to pass the law that will give him emergency  powers to address traffic problems and make changes to merit approval of federalism

He needs the support of every one to make his drive vs drugs, crimes and corruption a success

He who is the cause is the cause of the cause.

In a landmark ruling yesterday, 11 SC justices voted for the dismissal of plunder case vs her and ordered her set free. He has been incarcerated at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center for plunder for 4 years. Her supporters and her lawyers, especially Atty Estelito Mendoza were ecstatic with the ruling and said the SC really is the bastion of justice.

Why the decision?

1.  Was GMA jailed under the regime of Aquino for the wrong reasons?  Was Corona impeached for the wrong reason also?

2.  Was DAP really used by Aquino to bribe solons to impeach Corona?

3. Was the ruling made so as not to embarrass the SC since anyway, there were announcements that Pres Digong was set to pardon GMA?

From Pinoy World

Sen Lina de Lima is reported to be against the current campaign vs illegal drug campaign, and warned that she is watching Duterte.  The author called the good senator names and recalled that under her watch, the correctional system saw drug lords having a grand time at BJMP NBP running their operations from there and living like kings.  Who allowed this to happen.?

Is she a illegal drug protector?

Just in - Sol Gen Jose Calida studies possibility of  filing of cases vs. Sen Lina de Lima for proliferation of drug trade under her watch as DOJ secretary under the last Pnoy administration.  Is he or isn't she?

Sol Gen Calida who made a surprise visit to Camp Crame promised to support the PNP personnel who will be harassed by Congress or Senate inquiry in connection with the performance of their duty vs drug pushers or lords.

So tama si Pres. Duterte that these generals have committed a treason vs  the country if they finished under the scholarship in a distinguished academy, their tuition and uniform paid for.

Pres Duterte names 5 PNP generals involved in Drugs

Pres Duterte in an unprepared speech named the 5 PNP generals allegedly involved/linked to drugs.   They are:  Gens:   Garbo, Loot, Pagdilao, Tinio and Diaz.   Duterte diverted from the prepared speech to divulge the top level corruption at PNP.  He said he instructed PNP Director General De la Rosa to talk to the 5 and today, he reported he did.   The Pres said it is a shame that these generals were sent to military academy on scholarship, fed, housed and given uniform to pay back with this treason?

I am familiar with one of the generals who lives in Ayala Alabang and has various real estate holdings.

The Napolcom announced that the worse punishment could be just dismissal from service.

No wonder we get low level policemen involved in these drugs.  The heads lead the tails.  The bad generals lead bad cops.

It is time we end this anomaly.  I was just wondering why it did not happen during the time of Pres Ramos, Arroyo, and Aquino.  Kudos to Pres Duterte for having the guts and moral courage to do this.  Mabuhay kayo
