More cases of pyrotechnics injuries?

Noted on the fireworks injuries:

1.   Prices on pyrotechnics have increased today.   Many are flocking to Bocaue from far away places because it is once a year experience.

2.   There are more cases, as high as 30% more compared to last year because of on line selling;

3.  Many children are involved because of Boga

We are not ready for school opening

It is more fun criticizing

After listening and reading many stories about school reopening,  that it will be conducted  via distance learning I am convinced that we are not ready:

1.   The school authorities and even senior leadership could not decide nor determine the exact mode, medium of instruction:  TV, transistor radio, internet.  There is a wide variance on availability of internet signal and facilities nationwide

2.  Are they ready with the materials - videos, syllabus exercises?   Will they have enough time to train the professors, teachers instructors?  When I attempted to conduct instruction via social media, I had to spend a great deal of time preparing ppt and other research.  Is this being done

3.  Will this be effective?  In one TV forum, the President of a School council expressed his doubts on this online instruction.  It will take a great deal of effort on the  part of the instructor to get the student attention glued to the computer.  O a great deal of TV direction

I understand many parents wont take the risk of sending children to school, or what could amount to total waste of time and money

Many quarters would like to see school reopen because a great deal of money would be lost by schools and their personnel.  Billions probably. 

Why the hurry for school opening ? Is our educational system prepared for remote method of teaching

In the midst of pandemic, a conflict emerges.  The President wants the children to stay at home and wait it out until such time that there is a vaccine and/or pandemic has died down (at 7 million infections and 400,000 dead?)

There is an option of on line learning.

Like the health system which covid19 has audited to be inadequate to meet the challenges of pandemic (even the reporting alone) the  educational system has shown its weakness which need tobe addressed)

Let us take  one line teaching.   I have experienced as an educator and even practiced on line teaching using social media  If there is no online experience and structure (to which even college students object) then let us wait for one year.   What are the deficiences:

     1.  Lack of tablets and or devices by the student;

    2.   Still deficient internet connectivity

    3.  What about content and training of teachers.

Do we have enough time to develop all of these for the August 24 opening.  With due respect to the abilities of our education leaders. 

Consider also the customers;  most would not have the PHP to buy the devices, let even enroll.  7 million would be jobless And those who we  think who can afford:  seafarers and OFW.  In the US it was reported that 50% of those who would be in college, would dare not take their first year course via Zoom.

So if we are not ready, let us obey the President. 

Schools would of course want to continue operating in business and those who would lose jobs, would surely push that the school year  open.   

Let us think.
