Going back to the original topic, to the exposition on the scriptures, a member of the audience asked a question on a Bible passage which the preacher pointed out was wrong, based on the version of the translation.  The preacher said we must go back to the older, nearer to the original version of the Bible.  We must go back to the Greek and Hebrew versions

The various versions has given rise to various interpretations and hence varying doctrines based on the same.  Talk about Tower of Babel

Is religion a business?

Naw said a church clerk who refused to take in my donation before 7:30, the blessing time schedule by lay people on religious articles.   How dare I say, when I mentioned that we in business when there are cash receipts, we just accept them no matter what time.  Well she is just a clerk, and for engaging me in polemics for mere 20 php.  I had to end the discussion

Well a famous preacher said in a TV broadcast that the Lord's blessing is not for sale.  But other religion has fees for baptism, wedding, funeral etc.   (I think all that charges something in exchange for money is a business)  What do you think.

This post from abroad, USA says Catholic/Christian religion are part of the Organized Religion Industry, and it is a big industry.  Matha the author said that religion has done a great marketing job of providing answers about death,  salvation and others, the premise being that you can only be saved via the church.  In so doing, while millions suffer, the church and its hierarchy makes millions.

I was talking to a former high level former govt official.  He used to head a govt bank, an authority, could have been a BiR Commissioner. and was close to former President.

He confided to me the realities of power.  And indeed power corrupts, and it corrupts absolutely. This was said by a very young lawyer who graduated from a Jesuit school in USA, who became a congressman from Eastern Visayas.  He said that corruption is sucking him in, and may be very soon he could be corrupt too.

He said food, gifts, offers from suppliers from people wanting to do business with the govt. never stops.  Even the best of saints cant resist the offer, the senior govt official has been said.

Can Duterte and his staff, resist temptation.

Or is it Oscar Wilde reality " I can resist all kinds of temptation except temptation itself"

Is the purgatory real?

A preacher was asked in his TV show if the purgatory exists.  He said no and the bible does not show that there is.  Hell yes.  He say that the purgatory was created by men in religions so that they can frighten people and earn more money.

What do you think?  It may not be mentioned in the Bible directly but the Bible speaks of further purification.

The anti drug campaign is undergoing a severe test both locally and abroad for allegedly violating human rights and the killing as a sin.  The PNP maintained that the deaths attributed to PNP is as a result of encounters - the suspect resisting arrest and shooting the arresting team. All ready there are about 2,000 who died from the campaign, the bulk of them coming by way of unknown causes.

However despite this damage, the drug traffic continues.  More and more drug labs and factories are being discovered.(like the one beneath a piggery in Pampanga)  Pushers still abound  (example lady pushers, a lady plying her trade in a market in Laguna;  another lady tried to bribe the police with huge sums of pesos)

That means the illegal drug trade is really endemic, widespread, and deep seated and only draconian measures can stop it.  The measures do not seem to be enough
