In the medieval times, some philosophers called religion an opium, ie a  means of escape from the harsh realities of living and all that people shall look forward to is everlasting life without hunger or thirst

Indeed the meaning of religion is larger than life, (literally)  It means relationship with ones Creator

Let us examine if these incidents reflect the real meaning of religion:    From the Latin word religare - to bind (a person with his Creator)

    1.  I just finished Visita Iglesia during Holy  Week, and on the same date, a protagonist and the organizer
of that event, turned his back on a previous commitment to an agreement. While at the prayers of
the Visita Iglesia we talked about goodness to one another (mostly about teaching of John) It was
a grant of right of way.

I remember a certain protagonist several decades ago who blocked the right of way of a compound
creating difficulties for the residents. (He had the set back in front of his property and the right of way
titled - malakas ang Ms. sa gobyerno.) Not long after, he sought our grant of right of way to his
property for electricity service.  And then he died when he  was shot in front of his gate, a right of way
just equivalent to the 1 meter of right of way which he blocked.

Now a grant of right of way is mandatory and required by the Civil Code to the one being blocked by
a servient estate. And even more so to be free when a project blocks the right of way to the dominant
        ( property behind)  estate.

2.  Our group donated sizeable amount of money for an evangelization project, ie donation of PHP
hundreds of thousands of pesos for purchase of Bible and donation to Christian communities in an
island province. The proponent, while sending reports of his project  said that our treasurer, my daughter
was spreading word that their project is a scam. Now that is bad, and when I asked for evidences
say a print screen, he could not send me one.  And from his text, it turned out that he based his
accusation of what was said by his wife and on what the pastor told his wife.   In the name of Bible
and the Lord, we can send lies about  our co workers and  relatives? And after making huge help/
     donation to their group.

3.  What about misconduct of some of the religious with regards to having wives, homesexual and other
      sexual misconduct, pedophilia etc

4.  What about the high and mighty and other socialites attending church, donating to the church projects
and yet hardly showing that they care for their fellow men.

Hindi ba pakitang tao lang religion to most people, decoration lang?

Does God want you to be poor and to suffer?

This question is often asked by persons who could have been poor or those who are suffering in many religious forum  In a way some philosophers are correct that religions is being seen by people as a pain killer (like an opiate or shabu)

The religious leader said the following:

1.  God does not want you to be poor. There is a reason why some people are poor and some are rich.  This dichotomy is needed so that there are people who are poor who can work for the rich.  If everybody was rich, no one would labor and work

2. It was our destiny that we should eat from the sweat on our face (it means that a person has really worked very hard) to earn his bread.

3. God is on the side of the poor and He wants poor people to enter the Kingdom of God.  And in the other life, in the judgement day, the poor who are virtuous shall gain eternal life.  Take note it is not automatic poor people to enter the kingdom of God.

4.  Suffering make people tough.  When we ask God for something he gives us something to learn to be better than before.    Apprenticeship, tribulations, bad experiences make us tough and hard to fight challenges of life.

"Ang laki sa layaw karaniwan ay hubad,"

"Ang laki sa tubig mahina

From Bible Believers - why does God allow believers to suffer

Is religion a business?

image

Naw said a church clerk who refused to take in my donation before 7:30, the blessing time schedule by lay people on religious articles.   How dare I say, when I mentioned that we in business when there are cash receipts, we just accept them no matter what time.  Well she is just a clerk, and for engaging me in polemics for mere 20 php.  I had to end the discussion

Well a famous preacher said in a TV broadcast that the Lord's blessing is not for sale.  But other religion has fees for baptism, wedding, funeral etc.   (I think all that charges something in exchange for money is a business)  What do you think.

This post from abroad, USA says Catholic/Christian religion are part of the Organized Religion Industry, and it is a big industry.  Matha the author said that religion has done a great marketing job of providing answers about death,  salvation and others, the premise being that you can only be saved via the church.  In so doing, while millions suffer, the church and its hierarchy makes millions.

Can we Christians naively believe that our love and compassion towards Muslims will be repaid in the same manner?

Everytime there is a bombing or acts of terrorism by extremist, all we could is to condemn the killings and pray for the victims and the dead, and probably the perpetrators.  At the end of the day, we do no nothing. Perhaps, the perpetrators will be caught. That is police work, or probably that of the military and we hope the extremists will stop.  Several months later the cycle repeats and the extremists are it again with suicide bombings..  A woman at Brussels was interviewed and she said why is the city being attacked;  why are they being included; they have nothing to do with those who carried out the bombing.

1.  We can not naively believe that because their religion instructs them to do so.   Non believers, the infidels are all subject to jihad.  The Islam Q uran states

9:123 "O you who believe, fight those of the unbelievers near you and let them see how harsh you can be. Know that Allah is with the righteous."

2.  The ISIS has declared war vs the Vatican, and of course the Christians:

ISIS has now declared war on the Vatican in their manifesto, which contains numerous details on their plans to invade Rome. In their manifesto they quote one of ISIS’ spokesman Shaykh Abū Muhammad al-’Adnānī ash-Shāmī as saying:
O soldiers of the Islam- ic State, be ready for the final campaign of the crusaders. Yes, by Allah’s will, it will be the final one. Thereafter, we will raid them by Allah’s per- mission and they will not raid us… And so we promise you (crusaders) by Allah’s permission that this campaign will be your final campaign. It will be broken and defeated, just as all your previous campaigns were broken and defeated, except that this time we will raid you thereafter, and you will never raid us. We will conquer your Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted. This is His prom- ise to us; He is glorified and He does not fail in His promise. If we do not reach that time, then our children and grandchildren will reach it, and they will sell your sons as slaves at the slave market

3.  Islam is a religion of intolerance:  of hate and paranoia vs non believers

Islam, a religion of Peace?

61 % of its verses addressed to non believers are very negative.

What/who controls life in the PHL? BERP?

Social and political criticisms

What and who controls the lives of masses of Filipinos?

The street smart always say:

l.  Bisyo  -  alak  (the wine and beer manufacturers are lording it over), sugal (the PAGCOR, STL, jueteng are big pastimes and cause of shoot outs and controversies),

2  Eskuwela -  is a big business;  they have strong influence on their students;  the alumni association influence the graduates.  The professors and teachers exert big influence on the mindset and attitude of people.

3. Religion - enjoins exhorts the flock.  It is  a battler Royale among:  Eddie Villanueva ( JIL,)  Velarde, Ely Soriano (Dating Daan)  Manalo (INC).  They can install judges, officials, politicians. They are very powerful.

4. Politics  -  political dynasties, politics of patronage.  The effect on social and economic life is massive.  No one gets a contract and business without the blessing of the public official.  Without the tong....You cant get elected though without 3

Thats BERP.

What do you think?
