Victory has a thousand fathers, defeat is an orphan

It is more fun criticizing

Victory has a thousand fathers, defe... - John F. Kennedy - Quotes.Pub

From Good reads - from JFK - Victory  has a thousand fathers, defeat is an orphan

Remembering this, as we grew and as businessmen, we tried very hard to survive, thrive and win.  Knowing that if we lose or fail, the government, the public will not mourn for us nor even help us get up.   While the govt rakes in 44% of your revenues, the people there will not even blink nor miss you if you close or go bankrupt.  That is the reality.

That is why you try your very best not to fail.

If the business is closed, we pay the separation pay and probably we help workers get a new job.  There is nothing weird about a Senator saying that workers should look for a new job.   It happens to everyone, not only to the media giant.

Here we see a giant media company, having failed to get govt nod, or even assistance, muster public support to get them to have a franchise again.  What used to be a private affair, a private business, becomes a public domain and becomes a political issue.   What are they trying to do.

We were talking to someone whose neighbor are from the media giant.  The culture of better than thou, or more powerful than  you is commonly observed

And the thing is they have their plan A to D in place    They are now broadcasting, using various digital means:    FB, You tube etc.

We are sure they have capable management to steer them through their crisis.   That is part of doing business -  the legal environment can put you out of business that is why it is paramount for every business to be compliant.  Every business student knows that.  Unless you think you have all legal aspects all sewed up and are at the tip of fingers.

From ABS CBN Halalan 2016 as of 7:59 today

Rodrigo Duterte is solidifying his lead over admin bet Mar Roxas by nearly 6 million votes;   Leni Robredo is pulling away from Bong Bong Marcos by nearly a 100t votes.   Some oldies Senator are being dropped off:  Serg Osmena, TG Guingona.

Some famous personalities are not going to make it:  Lorna Kapunan, Jericho Petilla, Walden Belo, Grepor Belgica, Neri Colmenares, Susan Ople, Isko Moreno, Francis Tolentino, Edu Manzano, Raffy Alunan, Martin Romualdez, Jovito Palparan, Romeo Maganto, Getulio Napenas. This is really a tough and expensive election.  Sometimes, their best is not good enough for the country

Anti Duterte TV ads riles up supporters of Duterte

In a desperation move, the opponents of Davao City Mayor took the ultimate mudslingling by coming out with anti Duterte TV ad shown at ABS CBN  The media company (which has shown slant for the administration candidate, husband of an anchor) denied having a hand in the hand.  It was allegedly paid for by Sen Trillanes (is he campaigning for VP or the top honcho for mudslinging)?

How can Sen Trillanes pay for the ads in 3 stations when he cant even have a TV ad of his own?  Who is financing this attack?

Attack on ABS CBN news team in Marawi City does not improve chances for BBL

Ambush on ABS CBN News Team

The attack on ABS CBN news  team last Saturday who just covered the blast on NGC towers does not improve the chances of  BBL passage nor does this endear the Muslim brethren to the nation and the world.  Governor Hataman asks for probe and suggests total gun ban at Marawi (or at ARMM)

The culture of impunity in Mindanao must be stopped. Also violence vs journalists  What has Mayor Digong Duterte to say on this attack?   VP Candidate Leni Robredo has condemned the said attack.

Veiled text threat vs TV anchor Anthony Taberna is alarming

It is more fun criticizing

We noted with great concern, and it is not funny that an anonymous text was sent to TV Anchor of ABS CBN  for criticizing a police officer superior at his program.   Such is an attack on press freedom, and merely reenforces a crooked culture among police officer.  They are here not to serve and protect but to threaten and intimidate

But the fact remains that there is no check to the officer in question because the country's top honcho supports him rightly or wrongly.

"Mga pulis maawa na kayo kay Kuya Tonying.  Ang payatot na nga eh."

This is not true not only in Phil.  So as the saying goes, power corrupts and it corrupts absolutely.  Power in the hands of minions is as intoxicating as the power in the hands of the chiefs.   So we see police brutality in US and elsewhere in the world.

The Napolcom and PLEB i guess are of no are useless.

Bagito or Beterano: DZMM Halalan 2013 Forum at UE February 9, 2013

Social and political criticisms

From DZMM com.ph by Erik Tenedero | February 9, 2013

The DZMM team headed by fmr VP Noli de Castro held yesterday a Halalan 2013 forum at UE theater.  The Beteranos were pitted vs Bagitos.  Some beteranos were:   Alfredo Lim, Ernie Maceda, Ramon Magsaysay Jr., Sonny Angara, Richard Gordon.

Some bagitos were:   Bam Aquino, Sol Aragones, Bro Eddie Villanueva, Fr. Leo Casas running for governor of Masbate, Grace Poe - Llamanzares.

Really who are better:  neophytes - bagitos who have the whole 3 years to learn their ropes and make mistakes and be big disappointments; or the beteranos who know their way around, who have track record, but who also are....

Although the candidates are given just one minute to explain their platform, one wonders how they can execute their promises.

Most platforms are populist and would give more of this to that:   free education and free health care.  Of course they are not clear where to get the money;  the taxpayers would pay for their promises or more debt (as in USA). They would be needing more resources that we do not have.

Only two want to multiply the resources that we have:  Bam Aquino through entrepreneurship, and Jun Magsaysay through the Sovereign Wealth Fund (as in Singapore and Saudi)

What do you think?

Whom will you vote for?
