I saw in a TV news channel where a Qatar citizen was being interviewed and she said Hamas is a humanitarian organization. It is a little bit confusing now since Palestine has a government, Hamas and PLO. The commentators are reacting to that statement
They are also commenting that some news (they may be Jews) regarding the slant on some news that are in favor of Hamas. And they say, "Is it a humanitarian organization that rains rockets on innocent women and children of Israel"
Conversely the same can be asked of Israel who claims they are on defense mode, that this morning attack of a UN school was due to fire power coming near the direction of the school.
Who is telling the truth.

Rizal Philippines July 28, 2014
Repost from Rappler
We should congratulate Iglesia ni Cristo for their leadership in many areas:
1. show of force and unity in helping the community;
2. putting up the large arena and showing their achievements for the last 100 years;
The church received the two awards from Guinness yesterday, Sunday July 27, 2014 for two achievements
1. largest indoor mixed use arena,
2. largest choir which had 4,745 singers. The previous record had 1711 singers.
INC holds the record for largest single day charity event. (This one snarled traffic in MM for hours).
The church deserves the greetings from everyone on its 100 years of existence and for these two records

It looks that the presence of dictators like Sadam Hussein, Khomeine even Sadam Hussein, cruel and oppressive as they may be, has kept and unified their nations while they were in power. They may be petty uprisings here and there but the dictators, the oligarchs got them in check.
Here comes the Westerners injecting their democratic form of govt. What has this wrought these countries? Disorder, more violence and suicide bombings here and there. How many wished that Sadam Hussein was still around. There was order then.... and now....

Is DAP savings, is it constitutional?

Rizal Philippines July 26, 2014
The Philippine Supreme Court has declared the DAP (Development Accelerated Program) to be unconstitutional. As I thought then, , and arguments of Fr. And then the recent arguments said, GMA did this before. However fmr. Budget Secretary Diokno was quick to point out that savings is different from DAP.
DAP realigns the budget, funds to the project that his office or the politician so desires. So the budget process is corrupted.
The offshoot of this development is the filing of impeachment charges vs Pnoy and decline in his popularity. That he used this as reward (P50 million each) for those who voted for SC Corona impeachment can be bribery. Except that he used the peoples money, not his...(Well that is after the fact. Only CIA is bribery.... Is that so)
However the Pres has the numbers, and he is very unlikely to be impeached any time soon, and may not affect his stature for the last year of his term. However, the truth is out...

War is complicated thing

Philippines, July 26, 2014
According to former Secy of Defense Robert McNamara, war is a complicated thing. Not that man are not rational but there are limits to rationality.
We see shifts in alliances: in the Iran Iraq war, contra, the Isis, Syria and most especially the Arab world where alliances shift like sands in the desert. Former allies become enemies. See the Afghan war where the Afghan rebels were used vs Russians, now fighting the Americans who recruited them or where once their allies.
Let us see also the Israel Palestinian border strife now. Most of the rhetoric Israelites and their US allies use vs Hamas is that why would you defend your state if 1600 rockets were fired vs your family. And yet, there were 700+ Palestinians, mostly children and women who were non combatants who were killed. It is no longer defense move but agression on the part of Israel. The argument that Israel also use is that Hamas has put missile launchers amidst schools in populated areas making many children and women as human shields. Yet there was this UN school were a number of children were killed. Israel claims that there was a rocket that exploded prematurely. Investigations showed though that there was no rocket sharpnels as claimed.
Who is telling the truth. Complicated really this war thing

Impeachment vs Pres Pnoy very unlikely to progress beyond filing

Rizal Philippines July 23, 2014
Repost from ABS CBN news -2nd impeach complaint filed vs Pnoy
This corner would laud the courage of the youth groups and Party List Representatives for filing impeachment raps vs Pres. Pnoy. However they do not have the numbers. The LP in the house, led by the Pres has the numbers. And if they got the DAP largasse, the chair of the committee in charge of handling this complaint, said that it is unlikely that those who got DAP funds will inhibit themselves from deciding on the DAP issue.
The issue of corruption behind DAP is clear here. There are very few good men who will remain the decide on what is right because the DAP has corrupted them. They will not abandon the party or the man who provided them the DAP funds. Those in power may not have amassed the wealth and the funds but they got the patronage that they wanted to stay in power. Who needs money in this case. YOu need money to stay in power, Power was obtained not by dirtying the hands but by tweaking the law.
So Pres Pinoy need not worry.

Repost from ANC Yahoo News July 21, 2014
Congratulations to the Iglesia ni Cristo's 100 year. It was marked by the inauguration of the 55,000 capacity Philippine arena dubbed by foreign media as the largest church in the world. It can seat 20,000 and max of 55,000 and covers 99,000 square meters (10 hectares) at Bocaue Bulacan, and they must have spent nearly 10 billion pesos for this, according to the Lady Engineer who was the project manager of the arena.
At the height of its construction it employed more than 30,000 and 12 architects. The construction employed the latest in technology like braces for the roof frame (no columns) and independent bearing for movement of roof and columns to protect the arena from collapse in case of earthquake
The inauguration was led by the Pres of the Philippines, Benigno S Aquino.
(Ely Soriano must be seething in envy who keeps on saying that we do not need a structure to honor God. Whosoever is gathered in my name is the church).
The INC who not only wields great political power (politicians, king maker) has taken great steps in rescue, health care, medical mission going beyond the confines of the church and gospel

Yesterday marked the first landing of man on the moon and Neil Armstrong declared it was "giant leap for mankind" It was 46 years ago. NASA and the rest of the world celebrated it yesterday, despite claims it was faked. Was it faked or was it real?
Was it real? Was it beneficial to mankind?
According to Tom Jones, a former astronaut, the NASA program then was an inspiration to the rest of the world, and to the thousands of men working for NASA and its suppliers. It provided for the technological impetus for USA and the rest of the world. And to that respect, it was worth it.

Is Russia , not Ukraine rebels behind the fatal crash of Malaysian Airlines Flt MH 17?
It is more fun criticizing
Rizal Philippines July 20, 2014
From Fox News
And Global research - was Ukraines Ministry behind the downing of the MH 17. There were news that MH 17 was escorted by MIG fighters 3 minutes before the plane disappeared. The missile was fired from Bukov missile defense system. This is another version that Ukraine Govt was behind the firing.
There has been an international outcry against the rebels, allegedly supported by Russia, as behind the fatal and deadly crash of Malaysian Airlines that killed all the 298 passengers. There has been a lot of complaint too on how the dead and the remains of the ill fated plane are being handled.
The crash site is declared off limits to visitors, journalist, the crash investigator, and the Ukraine rebels (take note that the rebels are separatists and supported by USSR, not by US as alleged by Putin)
Sec Kerry, and not just Fox news alleged that the SA 11 rockets were:
1. supplied by Russia to Ukraine rebels. There are 4 rockets in the pod, but only remain as the picture shows;
2. that the rockets were fired by Russian and not by Ukraine rebels as alleged.
The Fox News also mentions that a certain Russian Colonel named Igor boasted of the MH 17 kill on the social media?
Will this incident move Putin and Obama to the brink?
Will the International outcry affect the Ukraine problem/Putin (many experts do not think so)?
Will this be another Russian misadventure that will be forgotten?
Many movies are larger than life and many events like this has been, in fiction form the, the same plot as this MH 17.

Rational men do not go to war - Robert McNamara

Rizal Philippines July 18, 2014
There is a rash of war: in Africa, at Gaza strip, at Ukraine, Nokor saber rattling, China challenging the territories of the sea at South east Asia. there is a war in Syria and the constant bombing (by suicide bombers) in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq
We hear lot of deaths.
And incidentally, there was movie that featured Mr Robert Mcnamara and the movie is titled "War Fog"
He was the former President of Ford Motors called by the Kennedy brothers to serve as Sec of Defense and later to Kennedy's successor Lyndon B Johnson. He was referred to as the number cruncher called into the military. He always wanted research and stats. And when asked about deaths in Vietnam, he told it was only 25,000 of the reported 58,000.
He said about war: "Rational man do not go to war; but there is limit to rationality" And said that war is a very complex issue like having civilian deaths, and deaths of children (especially if the combatants hide among the civiians)

The recent typhoon, Glenda that brought down many powerlines and trees, billboards, I would say was one of the strongest typhoon that visited Rizal and MM in recent history. It is more powerful than MIlleno what was in the country 6 years ago.
The winds were quite powerful and brought down the trees to kiss the ground, (first time I saw it.) The BF ficus trees in Edsa were all uprooted by Glenda.
As all powerful typhoons are, the passage of the typhoon was over by 10 am (its landfall started by 2 am) There was a great calm before it arrived. And there was a great calm after 10 am

What misfortune will hit Malaysian Airlines next time. We understand the airline is cash strapped and it does not need any more of this events.
This is the second time in recent times that a commercial jetliner was shot down by military hardware when they wandered into a war zone (?) One was a Korean airliner shot down by a Russian MIG. And this this Malaysian Airliner also shot down by a Russian made surface to air missile?

Bio fuel from Seaweeds
It is more fun criticizing
Rizal Philippines July 1, 2014
Repost from the Guardian - fuel from Seaweeds
The article was published exactly one year ago July 1, 2013. The article talks about the possibility getting biofuels - ethanol and methane from sea weeds like kelp. Sea weeds do not compete with crops that are used for food.
The raising and harvesting of seaweeds though is by hand and labor intensive.
However, the ROI is very high using the right microbes. A bacterium can convert 1 kg of ethanol from 3kg of dried seaweeds.
There are other potential barriers, including the fact that most common microbes do not ferment the special sugars in seaweed very well. But in 2012, a Californian firm produced genetically modified bacterium that can produce about 1kg of ethanol from 3kg of dried seaweed. Other research in the area involves harvesting bacteria from the droppings of the sheep on the Scottish island of North Ronaldsay, which thrive on an almost exclusive diet of seaweed.
The US navy is investing in the technology while Exxon has poured $600 million into the proejct.
