1.4 million Filipinos killed during the Fil Am war; True? Were this EJK? Or war crime?

Balanggiga - a howling wilderness from American retaliation

From Filipknow - Dark Chapters in Fil American history

Today marks the 15th year after the 9/11 attacks by the terrorists using 4 hijacked passenger airliners to attack Pentagon, Twin Towers at NYC, and Philadelphia, killing 3,000 Americans in their homeland, the first mass murder of such magnitude in the USA.

Today we recall too the recent spat between Pres DU30 and Obama resulting in the cancellation of their bilateral talks in Laos Asean Summit.   The massacre at Mt Dajo of 600 combatants, children and women was recalled. That DU30 has violated and committed EJK is unfair for the Philippine President, and history. Really USA and its leader must be reminded too of what atrocities and EJK Americans had committed in the Philppines

We are  reminded in the research of Luzviminda Francisco  (Philippines: the end of an Illusion, London 1973) that 1.4 million Filipinos combatants and non combatants alike were killed from 1899 to 1902:  It was the first Vietnam (the My Lai massacre) Compare this to the deaths during the Japanese occupation where 500,000 to 1,000,000 Filipinos died.   Remember, 1941 to 1945 was modern warfare where there were more efficient weapons for killing.   The Spaniards could have killed less during their 400 years of occupation of the Philippines and would be more benevolent

Genocide in the Philippines

I would consider the site having leftist or even NDF slant but its claims are well documented, and the first time I knew about this when my daughter who was studying in UP asked me to summarize for her a book on American atrocities in the country

A moment of reflection returns us to what Bernard Fall called “the first Vietnam,” the Filipino-American War of 1899-1902, in which at least 1.4 million Filipinos. The campaign to conquer the Philippines was designed in accordance with President McKinley’s policy of “Benevolent Assimilation” of the uncivilized and unchristian natives, a “civilizing mission” that Mark Twain considered worthy of the Puritan settlers and the pioneers in the proverbial “virgin land.” In Twain’s classic prose: “Thirty thousand killed a million. It seems a pity that the historian let that get out; it is really a most embarrassing circumstance.”  This was a realization of the barbarism that Henry Adams feared before Admiral George Dewey entered Manila Bay on 1 May 1898: “I turn green in bed at midnight if I think of the horror of a year’s warfare in the Philippines where…we must slaughter a million or two of foolish Malays in order to give them the comforts of flannel petticoats and electric trailways.”
In “Benevolent Assimilation”: The American Conquest of the Philippines, 1899-1903 (1982),  Stuart Creighton Miller recounts the U.S. military’s “scorched earth” tactics in Samar and Batangas, atrocities from “search and destroy” missions reminiscent of Song My and My Lai in Vietnam. This episode in the glorious history of Empire  is usually accorded a marginal footnote, or a token  paragraph in school textbooks.  Miller only mentions in passing the U.S. attempt to subjugate the unhispanized Moros, the Muslim Filipinos in Mindanao and Sulu islands. On March 9, 1906, four years after President Theodore Roosevelt declared the war over, children in the battle ofMajor General Leonard Wood, commanding five hundred and forty soldiers, killed a beleaguered group of  six hundred Muslim men, women and and children at Mount Dajo. A less publicized but horrific battle occurred on June 13, 1913, when the Muslim sultanate of Sulu mobilized about 5,000 followers (men, women and children) against the American troops led by Capt. John Pershing. The battle of Mount Bagsak, 25 kilometers east of Jolo City, ended with the death of  340 Americans and of 2,000 (some say 3000) Moro defenders. Pershing was true to form—earlier he had left a path of destruction in Lanao, Samal Island, and other towns where local residents fought his incursions. Anyone who resisted U.S. aggression was either a “brigand” or seditious bandit. The carnage continued up to the “anti-brigandage” campaigns of the first three decades which suppressed numerous peasant revolts and workers’ strikes against the colonial state and its local agencies.

NYT Maureen Dowd criticizes Pres for playing golf amidst crisis

From Press TV Pres returns to golf after condemning Foley beheading

This post would mean my cancellation of this visa to travel to US.

The head of the largest economy in the world has been widely criticized in his own country for failure to deal squarely with the problems in US:   of the illegal children immigrants from the rest of America, the ISIS threat, The Gaza war, the beheading of US Journalist Folley.  While this is happening the chief seemed to be enjoying his golf.   While the UK Prime Minister cancelled his vacation, the US chief did not show the same sense of urgency.

Is US being turned into a country of dependents?

It is more fun criticizing

Is President Obama converting USA into a socialist nightmare? Is he turning Americans into a nation of dependents?   Has this ruined America from a superpower into a country of wimps?

The Americans we know before were admireable:  they were gutsy, hard working, pioneering, and  resourceful.  They did not depend on alms and grants.  They helped countries who were struggling.
They were unlike the 40 million or so Americans who depend on foodstamps, who would rather live off on alms rather than breaking their bones to work.  Why?

Because the leadership encourages them to be so!!

CIA spying on international finance and monetary system?

It is more fun criticizing

CIA Collecting Records of International Money Transfers

From Wall St. Journal online

From Leaksource blog

The current accusations of various govt:    spying  by US seems to be gathering confirmation as true.  Why is Barack Obama, a democrat allowing this?  He does not know this?  What happens to command responsibility?

CIA seems to be using the same law, the Patriot Act that NSA uses in tapping phone and internet records, in monitoring records of Western Union on wire transfers (to track funding of terrorists?)

That is there is a group of Civil Libertarians who are activitists vs this kind of govt curtailment of US liberties.

Well CIA could always invoke national security in monitoring money transfers.  Is this legal or constitutional, moral?

What is the similarity between Pres Obama and Pres Nikolas Maduro of Venenzuela

Food Stamp Costs Swelled by States Spending $1 on Heating Aid

It would seem that if there is a $1 spent on aid for eating, a US Citizen gets additional $1,080, thus further bloating aids and subsidies (and eventually deficits in govt spending leading to higher debt of the Federal Govt.)  Will they not get tired of printing money and socialist spending?

Is there a similarity between Pres Nikolai Maduro (successor of Pres Chaves) of Venenzuela and Pres Obama of USA

US spending on the poor, for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)  other name for food stamps given to unemployed to about 47.7 million Americans amounted to $75 billion about 1/8 of the  $650 billion total groceries American spend annually.  The food stamps are mostly redeemed at WalMart and Safeway.   The US Congress plans to shave $39 billion from SNAP

US accused of spying on allies

Social and political criticisms

Rizal PHL  | November 3, 2013

Repost from US News

FDR PM Angela Merkel is frosty to Pres. Obama amidst accusation of US spying on its allies.  France has made similar accusations of US tapping into phone calls of its citizens.

Is US really doing this?  Pres. Obama denies knowledge of such activities (how can there be accusations?)  Is there double talk here or lack of command responsibility?

Pres Mujica of Uruguay was right in saying that in attempting to the world's policeman, US gets a lot of enemies.  The number of CSI stories, and police tv shows show the strength of US govt on its citizens, and the extent of what US would like to police.

However, how is the civil liberty situation in US.  We have seen a number of articles of Civil Liberty advocates, as what they perceive as going persecution by US of American.s

Is this a correct perception of what is happening in US?  Many say that Obamacare is a proof the US govt dictating what a citizen could or could not have

Social and political criticisms

September 7, 2013

As Pres. Obama calls on lawmakers for support of the legislature for military action vs Syria on account of use of chemical weapon vs Syrians by the current leadership, Russia Pres. Putin, says otherwise;   Russia is ready to support its ally -  Syria.  What does this mean?

It is going to be Russia and Syria vs the rest of  US, France what could this conflict lead to?

Another world war?

Obama's Latest Screw Up May Lead to Impeachment.

Dear

Fearing the very worst, the nation's super-rich are unloading their stocks at an alarming rate.

Even more troubling, the wealthiest 1% of Americans, who typically know the most, are the ones most anxious to sell.

You see, Obama just allowed 13 new tax increases to further slow the economy, wreck the stock market and make it even harder on the 12 million Americans already looking for work.

The bigger question is this…

Is Obama's Latest Tax
Screw Up Grounds
For Impeachment?

The poll results are likely to shock you.

Cast your vote now to see what America thinks.

Yes, impeach President Obama? Or No, higher taxes were necessary?

Thanks for your time on this urgent matter.

If you take care of snake, you will be bitten

Social and political criticisms

From Personal Liberty Digest

One should get the lesson, in a rather bizarre post at PLD, that when one takes care of snakes, you are likely to be bitten.  Who are the snakes:   the Al Qaeda, and the Moslem Brotherhood Islamists.  The misadventure resulted in:  destruction of US consulate, and death of US ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and 3 others (2 were navy seals)

The story that the showing of an amateurish you tube video would precipitate the attack, according to PLD. The identity of the producer and the promoter is doubtful.

It is allegation of the post is that the attack took place to deflect flak on the banksters.  (Also doubtful)

The Pres is busy campaigning;   he may not be getting the regular intelligence briefings.

 Another snake bites the hand..
