John 10:   27 -30

Jesus said:

The Gospel was about the Good Shepherd.   The Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ takes care of the flock.  Jesus knows His flock and they obey Him

In relation to the Homily of the Holy Pope and in connection with Mothers Day, he emphasized that now that he is the Shepherd, great patience and sacrifice must be exercised to be a bridge to those who were separated from the church and their mother.  The bond must be based on love of Mother Mary, and be practiced not by being above others but by being with them.  As he saw in his missionary work in Peru.

What could be the cause?

PBBM on inspection said it was due to poor design.  The designer, Mr. Canete said that it was designed according to standards. Overloaded vehicles was blamed as the culprit.   Many citizens commented why despite its huge costs the bridge failed.

Some structural experts showed graphically the stress and structural analysis.

Pointing out to the fact that the contractors scrimped on the materials (probably  to recover the prevalent practice of kb to politicians).   Whose admin to be blamed;  PNoy, FPRRD, or PBBM.  Or heads should roll at DPWH who created most billionaires in the country)

There is a P1.23B bridge in Cabagan Sta Cruz Isabela.  There could be many causes for collapse. Netizens noted that it could be a steal bridge.

How sad.?!    There have been reports that many construction projects are not as per specs because of huge cuts made by the sponsors of the project.

While many of us follow the rule to be in the service of others as are other "public servants"   this is not the case for many of our leaders:    dpwh, congressmen, coa, lgu heads.    Each one must partake of the spoils and in the end, substandard materials and methods are left in the project.   

So why blame the road user, not the contractor?

It has been a week since I got the pictures for this, but I am always postponing making the post because I believe this is a rather challenging and difficult study.  However we must confront this issue  This is politically unpalatable.  DEaling with vote rich settlement is a no no, But not doing so, not confronting reality gets the problem buried. In the meantime, we suffer the consequences:   frequent flooding, loss of property, loss of lives. etc

Background:

Manggahan floodway was built in 1986 at a cost of Php 1.1 billion.  Marikina river flood water is  diverted to the Manggahan spillway, instead of going to Pasig River, and MM, and to prevent flooding in Malacanang.   The water goes to Laguna Lake where it is impounded and released later to Manila bay via Napindan channel and Pasig River.  Because of complication brought by low and high tide and currents, and the 12 km distance to Manila bay, the effective hours of draining the LLake is effectively only 6 hours a day.  Thus, draining the floodwaters from Laguna lake takes 3 to 6 months.
