Political dynasties control 73 of the 80 provinces in the PHL, and 80% of the 220 seats in Congress.
The winners in Senate shows that families control the legislature. And while this is clearly prohibited in the constitution, this practice continues. There are comments that the dynasties perpetuate oligarchy and impede progress.
So what does this make out of the PHL?

Will political dynasties end a natural death?

The results of the recent elections have been mixed. For example, in the senatorial slate, the Ejercito, Cayetano, Angara, Binay, who are members of elite families who are in politics; however, a scion of a senior senator did not make it to the top 12.
In other areas of the PHL: the Jalosjos lost out to the Uys; in other areas, the Ilgans, the Gacula mayors were not reelected; the Ynares were succesful in retaining their posts.
It was said though, the dynasties are:
l. those who handle all the posts in one area;
2. that there are 3 more members of the family who are into elective position
Maybe the state should have a clear definition on dynasties and come out with an enabling law to enforce the constutional mandate (Do we need a law still to define what is constutional? Why were they able to dismiss Corona by citing mere provision of the constitution? How convenient for our leaders to define/interpret the law according to what is advantageous for them

While the election watchdogs have issued warning regarding premature campaigning (premature ejaculations) and using public infrastructures to advertise their candidacy, these are largely ignored and disregarded.
Thus: road repair, hospital construction are publicized and thank you billboards are made, as premature campaigning thanking Mr. Politico for having this and that construction repair; as if they spent their own money on the project.
STOP THIS SUCKERING SIRS!
The taxpayers money were spent on this project. Stop naming gyms, hospitals, school
buildings with your family names.
Thus family dynasties in politics are deemed to be unconstitutional and wrong.
Stop suckering us sirs. You know and we know that you are not just fooling us but fooling yourselves as well.
When will this travesty end?

I live near a hospital and as leave for work I see daily massive crowd of masses lining up for free cataract services in a government hospital. The "free" is sponsored by a civic organization (international). The people wait under tents that bear prominent name and picture of current top official in the province and the new candidate, the mother is often seen at the site.
The prospective candidate has no opponent (who will dare). The entire province is under the dynasty. First the father, then the wife, then the son. Then the mother. Who can stop them.
And as an overkill, they do this free clinic so that the people will remember their names. What for? The family name is emblazoned at: school buildings, waiting sheds, gyms (as if they spent for this), on announcement of infrastructure projects (will Comelec be strict in dismantling names of schoolbuildings waiting sheds etc)

Is nothing wrong with political dysnasties?
I thought it was the intention of the l987 constitution to end the perpetuation of power in one person or one family. I could be wrong. Hence the limited term of office, and only 3 consecutive reelection.
However, political dynasties are the norm rather than the exception.
What do you think? Is nothing wrong with political dynasties? Is the PHIL govt a democratic institution or monarchial...

should serve their terms, then go home and back to work.
3. Term limit should be 6 years, just like the President with NO re-election.
4. NO Dynasty. No Wife, Children, Brothers/Sisters and Family members can hold public office.

each person contacts a minimum of twenty people, then it will only take
three days for most people to receive the message. Don't you think it's
time?
