Philippines through its its DFA secretary Manalo campaigns to be a non permanent member of UN Secuirty Council. There are 5 permanentnt member of UNSC; PH wants to be one of the 10 non permanent member. PHL long membership at UN and participation in peace keeping missions were cited as some of the reasons.
What will the effect of this forthcoming membership? More clout in the world, coupled with increasing numer of armaments, economic power (GDP growth).
