                                                         Sapol na sapol perfect timing

From Inquirer

An alert photographer Melvin Anore was able to take picture of fmr. Pres FVR spitting globules of water at a group of photographers at EDSA People power celebration .  FVR was the lone VIP at the said celebration.

What do you/we think?   Can he do that?   Is that being respectful? Or an act unworthy of a gentleman.  (PMA ba siya -  Duty Honor Country?)

Presidentiable Rodrigo Duterte faces possible DQ with the Dino substitution

From Inquirer - Possible DQ case vs Duterte

From Rappler - RD possible disqualification

TWO FOR THE ROAD After withholding his certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection as Davao City mayor, Rodrigo Duterte (with daughter Sara) holds up his COC for President on Friday. GERMELINA LACORTE/INQUIRER MINDANAO

Davao City Mayor Presidential Aspirant Rodrigo Duterte faces possible disqualification says Lawyer Romeo Makalintal.  And as per petition of certain Ruben Castor who said RD candidacy should not be given due course as a substitute for Martin Dino who had an erroneous COC.   Martin Dino filed candidacy for Pasay City Mayor not for President.

However, former Comelec Chair Brilliantes that substitution under the Omnibus Election Code is allowed (but does he know the erroneous COC of Dino.  Legally, if  Dino did not file for Presidency, RD is not substituting for anyone.  But on the other hand the camp said that if that is the case, RD filed before Dec 10, 2015 thus beating the deadline.

Only the Comelec en banc can decide on Dec 16, 2015 the validity of RD candidacy.  And RD will not feel bad if that is the case, although the left and the right and the Muslims will will feel bad.

RD was ahead in the survey which a business man from Davao paid for. Binay and Poe were second and the administration candidate was third.

Naligaw sa tuwid na daan? nalihis, nadapa?

It is more fun criticizing

From Rappler October 14, 2014

From Inquirer October 13, 2014

Nalihis, naligaw, nadapa?

About 36% of the Filipinos believe that Pres PNoy strayed from his promised path of tuwid na daan, and only 29% believe that he has fulfilled his promise. The "tuwid na daan" referring to fight vs pollution was used in 2010 to win votes.

That there was PDAF, DAP and many of the President's men are under suspicion of wrongdoings may have contributed to this perception.

83 solons allegedly linked to to DA Nabcor PDAF scam

It is more fun criticizing

From Inquirer News by Nancy Carvajal | March 17 2014

Four senators and 79 congressman are allegedly linked to the DA NABCOR ( National Agribusiness  Corporation) through which much of the PDAF funds were channeled to various NGO controlled by Janette Napoles now under police custody.  Nabcor was the alleged favorite govt agency favored by 3 senators being charged at Ombudsman.  Even Sen Angara has been linked to this type of modus operandi but is not being investigated.

This was according to the documents submitted by Nabcor officials Rhodora Mendoza (VP for finance) and Vic Cacal head of general services.  They are among the 38 persons being investigated by Ombudsman.  Some members of the broadcast media were alleged to have shared the bonanza

Is MM prepared for a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that shook Bohol? Are you?

Social and political criticisms

 3/18 scenarios
Primer on Bohol Earthquake last October 15 2013

Is Metro Manila prepared for an earthquake for an intensity as what hit Bohol last Tuesday.  There has been various estimates but they all agree that casualties and damages especially to buildings will be great.  We all know that MM lies along a major fault (the Marikina fault and its extends all the way to Rizal and even Alabang)  It is difficult to understand why despite this knowledge building officials gave permits to high rise (approaching and beyond 50 stories)  I hope they have been designed to withstand earthquakes of 7 or more in magnitude.

As early as June 8, 2013 an article was written in Inquirer which says that 38,000 will be killed and 100,000 will be injured, roads will be impassable, there will be fires, and the MoA area will be a mass grave.  This was what MM Chair Francis Tolentino told PMA President Leo Olarte in a closed meeting as MMDA prepares for MM earthquake which goes through a 200 year cycle (it is due).  The preparation is called OMY (oplan metro yakal).  This is due to the proximity to West Valley fault which has a story of powerful quakes in the past

It will damage 13% of the 170,000 residential buildings and render more 1.2 million people homeless.  It can damage 20% of the govt hospitals, building and facilities.

The earthquake will divide MM into four regions

Are we prepared;  are we ready.  As the Bible says, we do not know the time and hour of the day.

The Philstar article yesterday on the other hand, basing on the 2004 study made by JICA entitled MMEIR (Metro Manila Earthquake Impact Reduction) said 50,000 will be killed.  It also said 40% of the residential buildings will be affected:  170,000 houses will collapse and 340,000 will be damaged. JICA painted 18 scenarios

Are you afraid?  Are you prepared?

Sen Jinggoy Estradas bombshell on PDAF?

Social and political criticisms

What bombshell - was really a bombshell?

One of the three senators accused of wrongdoing in the PDAF anomaly promised to drop a bombshell.  Was it really a bombshell?  Or was it mud?

All that he said is why single him out or the three?

But he did not deny nor refute the COA nor the whistle blower's testimony.  Of course former CJ Renato Corona benefited from his privileged speech.  But it did not endear him to the rest of his colleagues.

Was the P50 million additional PDAF for senators a bribe to convict SC Corona?  Are they honorable man or ...

So when the going gets rough, the rough gets going.

Expect more bombshell and those who will run for cover and turn against former friends.

We thought Newsweek was timeless

Social and political criticisms

From inquirer.

Newsweek had to end its printed issue.  And we thought it was timeless.

Its print circulation is one half of what it used to be.

Newsweek a victim of digital age?
