Resurgence expected in May,, number of cases may reach 60,000 a day

The number of cases of covid 19 is at low 193 now; however as predicted by DOH the number may reach 60,000 a day because of:

     1.  Latest variant brought in by  a foreigner from Europe who went to Baguio;  44 contacts.

          Covidsubvariant 2.12 detected in Baguio visitor   The 52 year old visitor from Finland who

          lectured on digital loom weaving in Cordilllera has recovered and returned to her home country. 

     2.  Absence of or non observance of social distancing; 

     3.  Frequent close contacts because of parade, meetings,  and the voting on May 9, 2023

We have to be braced for this;  We can not be complacent.  Because it means return of lockdown, limited mobility and reduction of economic activity.  More hardships.  

This may be bad news for the public at large but good news for hospital, other health facilities like diagnostic centers pharma whose business are in doldrums.   A hospital I know has an entire floor for covid experiencing 0 admissions.

With the reports of emergence of covid19 omicron variants, it is very likely that we will soon see re-imposition of strict quarantine rules.  The expected growth of the country's economy will soon come to a halt.

We will see again the Duterte govt which is a strong govt (the  police and  the military having been placated by higher salaries and benefits ) will flex again its powers.  The sub alterns, the  force multiplier will also flex their powers, make their own rules and implementation on the ground.  They are not responsible for the economic recovery and will not realize the damage they might have caused to the rest of the country.   

Perhaps more explanation. is needed.  Its the disease we are fighting.  Not our country men.  Let us give some leeway for  our country to recover.

This post experience (twice all ready) saw 1.  different interpretation on the  ground of the SPass rules

2.  In another island province  they are not part of the SPass system and their LGU have their own interpretation which is very strict makes it difficult for travelers to visit their place.  With tourism and fishing as their viable source of revenues, one can foresee extreme difficulties in recovery.
