Destruction in Marawi city by Maute group

If you were the President of the Philippines, with the multitude of problems in Mindanao not declare martial law?  The last straw would be the Maute group attack (reportedly backed by ISIS -  look at the flag they are waving) in addition to NPA attacks the ASG, and the disorder in Zamboanga.

What are the options available?

Would you not declare martial law if you encountered the following attacks:

Lorenzana also confirmed that Maute bandits began occupying some establishments in the city like Amai Pakpak Medical Center, the City Hall, and the city jail. He also verified that the church, city jail, Ninoy Aquino School and Dansalan College have been set on fire by the group. “As of tonight (Tuesday, May 23), the Maute group burned several facilities – the church, city jail, the Ninoy Aquino School and the Dansalan College. The Maute fighters still occupy also the main street of Marawi city called the Quezon Street and two bridges,” Lorenzana said. Senior Superintendent Oscar Nantes, Lanao del Sur police provincial director, said the fighting erupted when the Maute group opened fire on personnel from the military’s 103rd Brigade. "When the firefight ensued, there were reported re-enforcement from the symphatizers of Maute where pocket firefight erupted in nearby areas," Hererra said. Surge in arrests, surrender and killing of drug related suspects come ahead of Duterte inauguration

It is more fun criticizing

From Qatar Tribune

From Tempo - 6 suspects in drugs killed

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has yet to take oath of  office on June 30, 2016 but all ready there is a surge of killings of persons involved in drugs.  Some suspect that the killings is a part of a plan to get witnesses away who will implicate policemen involved in drugs.   But police said the killings were in in legitimate operations vs the drug lords dealers and pushers.  Police who are suspected to be engaged in similar nefarious activities have been warned.

The church has prayed  (oratio imperata)for stoppage of these killings as CHR has formed task forces to investigate the killings.

Is the church getting donations from the drug lord. Which is the greater evil the drug lords destroying the lives fo 26 million drug dependents?  Or the human rights of  the drug lords?

One wonders that it is only now that police is arresting making encounters with the drug lords. Do they have protectors that was why before they were untouchables?  Who were their protectors?

In QC alone about a 1,000 suspects involved in drugs all ready surrendered.  Nationwide more were arrested or surrendered (fearing for their lives?)

Oratio imperata opposing the culture of death (or to protect drug lords?)
