The lone gunman who caused the death of 37 people (38 him included) was identified today by NCRPO press conference led by Gen Albayalde (it just ended as of this hour) as Jessie Carlos. His parents were there and they asked forgiveness for him causing the death of the loved ones in the incident. The mother claimed he had no bisyo (what is being hooked to gambling)
What do they know about him:
1. Former employee of DOF; but fired for misdeclaration of SALN
2. Some of his investments turned sour; and he was hooked to gambling
3. He had many problems probably because he had gambling debts; He even sold his property in Batangas to cover up some of his debts.
4. His next of kin requested PAGCOR to ban him from casinos; This probably angered him. causing him to take a revenge.
5. He lives in Felix Huertas and there were CCTV footage that showed him where he hailed taxis (but they did not stop)
He was known to be a casino high roller (betting is lowest P40,000)
How was he identified:
1. From the taxi driver who told him where he was picked up
2. The police inquired and did some sleuthing and called up the relatives and they confirmed

Destruction in Marawi city by Maute group
If you were the President of the Philippines, with the multitude of problems in Mindanao not declare martial law? The last straw would be the Maute group attack (reportedly backed by ISIS - look at the flag they are waving) in addition to NPA attacks the ASG, and the disorder in Zamboanga.
What are the options available?
Would you not declare martial law if you encountered the following attacks:
Lorenzana also confirmed that Maute bandits began occupying some establishments in the city like Amai Pakpak Medical Center, the City Hall, and the city jail. He also verified that the church, city jail, Ninoy Aquino School and Dansalan College have been set on fire by the group. “As of tonight (Tuesday, May 23), the Maute group burned several facilities – the church, city jail, the Ninoy Aquino School and the Dansalan College. The Maute fighters still occupy also the main street of Marawi city called the Quezon Street and two bridges,” Lorenzana said. Senior Superintendent Oscar Nantes, Lanao del Sur police provincial director, said the fighting erupted when the Maute group opened fire on personnel from the military’s 103rd Brigade. "When the firefight ensued, there were reported re-enforcement from the symphatizers of Maute where pocket firefight erupted in nearby areas," Hererra said. READ: AFP: Operations, firefight in Marawi City continues Police said the fighting erupted around 3 p.m. in the villages of Caloocan and Basak Malutlut, near the Lanao del Sur police provincial command and Mindanao State University. The fighting reportedly sent thousands of residents fleeing while others were locked inside their homes. It happened about two days before the start of the fasting month of Ramadhan.
