FPRRD may likely be acquitted

It is more fun criticizing

As the legal team of FPRRD is being assembled, a lawyer from US said that the former is likely to be acquitted for various reasons:

1  Violation of Art 59, ie that the accused should have been presented to competent court (like SC or any other body of the judiciary)  When mentioned before the judges, this was not answered (meaning a non observance was committed)

2.  Local prosecution -  none took place in the PHL.  The custodial state should have conducted prior and none took place.

Philippines to build own warships in local shipyards

It is more fun criticizing

We have our own capability to build such warships:  frigates, patrol boats, destroyers in private shipyards in Cebu and Zambales and depend less on imports, hand me downs, military alliances.

As to why this was not resorted to may be attributed to the dependence on JUSMAG hand me down.
Old ships and airplanes.  But we can borrow and raise taxes to buy our own armaments.

We are going to be fearsome

Too much local autonomy and power a bad thing now?

It is more fun criticizing

The recent trend has been for the local execs to wield more power and authority under the local code which allowed them to do so.

It is common to see the return of local powerful chiefs who are all mighty  You see them competing with locall businesses or terrorizing them Or worse as in the case of a representative in an island province allegedly  behind the hit of a governor.   Or so it seems

The ordinances and resolution in favor of new businesses requires zillions CIA

God bless them

Incurring huge foreign and local debts to alleviate the pandemic

It is more fun criticizing

The current govt is highly criticized for incurring more trillion in debt.  Undoubtedly, the huge debt were used for the:   1.  billions in SAP   ayuda 2.  vaccines,   3.   test kits and PPE under the BAHO law.

Where must the govt stand:    1.   Support the huge funding during the pandemic  or  2. let it be for the pandemic.

The economic managers maintain that the debt is within limits

I think this govt chose to support the expenditures for the pandemic.   And we must thank the leaders for doing that.   As to whether there was graft, may be its a different matter.

Adamance of a LGU MM local chief on port congestion problem shows limits of capacity to govern

It is more fun criticizing

Repost from Remate - Truck Bank in Manila continues

Right after the Senate hearing to solve port congestion, a local chief executive shows his adamance not to cooperate and not to think through the priorities and the problem at hand.  That he used to be a top honcho of the country but was impeached, simply shows that his removal from the office before shows his lack of capacity to govern the nation.  He could not understand that let the Ports be decongested for 3 months and then let the truck ban continue.

Port Congestion adds to costs of goods, harms the consumer and the country in general.  It affects the country's trade and backlogs pile up of imports pile up in foreign ports.   Agri products rot in the pier, hence we saw the rise in cost of onions by as much as 3x.  Trucking has also risen by that much....
