The Senate blue ribbon committee under Sen Ping Lacson has announced the cancellation of its future hearings.  He has likewise resigned.   

Many speculate reaons for the halting  of the proceedings:

1.  The hearings has implicated many fellow senators, some of them inescapably;

2.  The evidence points only to one direction -- to the top as many have speculated all along

Were these all for a show to placate the masses.?  Is it not going to backfire?

Sen Chiz Escudero, in a privilege speech before a Senate Plenary session points to fmr HOR Speaker Martin Romualdez as the mastermind behind the flood control projects  He urged every one to rip the script/narrative of Romualdez to divert attention on the anomalous flood control controversy.

The good senator was seen to be defending himself and distancing himself from:    1   insertions emanating from the Senate;    2.   allegations that he received millions of campaign funds from contractor.

This is going to be the start of the fight between two former boss of the Legislative bodies.  Where will this lead to?    Who will win?   Who will be jailed?

Filipinos are probably tired and sick of large scale corruption and plunder of flood control projects amounting to millions:   ghost, uncompleted projects, substandard.    And large billions of kickbacks too involving top govt DPWH officials and legislators.   

First it was in Indonesia, then Nepal.  And soon....

The root casue was insertion and somebody from Bicol and  another powerful persons in the Legislature.  They should e stopped.   We hope even Hell accepts them

                             3.      Rubbing the flood control culprits the wrong way?

It could not have come at most inopportune time.  Its election period.  And there are reelectionist senaotrs.  Sen Pimentel is in a hurry because he will no longer part of the impeachment court he being a candidate for congressman at Marikina.

Senators are wary of the Sara factor, ie that she could have been the reason why PBBM got elected (he was beaten by Robredo in VP race, and even at recount) and voters sentiment could be pro Sara and some of them may lose.   

So Senate leadership may be stalling. Or if Sarah wins the impeachment, the outcome of the midterm elections could change

Deregatory information circulating in the social media,, and a movie trailer are not probably helping the senatorial bid of two candidates.  The negataive information regarding the top ranked regarding his false identity, that of being a foreigner (serving as a soldier) with 10 children with 4 different women will definitely shoot down the said candidate from No. 1 to nothing.  Couple that with his negative response to such allegation and skiritng the issue.

The other one is about a digging up of a 3 decade decided case which will imperil the bid for Senate of another showbiz personality.  The csse has lapsed the statue of limitation and the controversial director may be better off shelving this project because it digs us deeper into a mire of trouble and controversy.  Does not health our psyche a bit.  

It could also hurt the reelection of an MM Mayor who have the same surname,   Or even their tv show.  This could be handiwork of political or business adversaries

Republican Donald Trump has won the 2024 US Presdientail Election by wide margin 276 -223 electeral votes, and even the majority vote.  The Republicans also took control of both the Senate and Congress.  He thus became the 45th and 47th US candidate.

Trump survived two assasssination attempt impeachment, and various cases in courts.

What happens, now that Trump has been elected:

1. To the prosecurtors and judges who decided negatively against him?

2.  To the alleged conviction, especially the huge fine?

3.  The border problem at the south?

4.  US debt and other economic problems?

5.  Foregin policy:

     1.   Israel

     2.  Middle East

     3. UKraine

     4.  China

     5.  WPS  alliance with PHL

6.  Realtionship with toxic and/or negative media

We wait.

We can only cry and pity the poor Bicolanos inundated by flood by rain brough by typhoon Cristine.  And the irony of it all is that the budget for flood control in the 2024 budtet is P255 billion.   Where did the money go?   Were the projects implemented?  Or improperly done

And the irony of it all is that the chairman of the appropiations committee is from Bicol.  The Senate President is from Bicol. 

And the past chair of ways and means committee were from Bicol and we hear about the heavily funded Bicol River Basin project.   

Some Engineers posited that the terrain will lead to the flood.  The 94 km Bicol river coming from as far as Ragay meets the Naga River and when there is high tide all the water meets the flood water at Naga City.   That is catastrophic.   

Typhoon Kristine was an act of God.  But let us see acts of men mitigate this.  We could have done better with flood  control.

Although the proegressive block is seething with moves to impeach the VP.  We learn that her former underling has proofs of misbehavior by the VP in her use of confidential funds.

Will this conflict end.?  Will we see secession of Mindanao from Luzon?   Who will be better off with this secession  Mindanao -  being land of opportunity  or Luzon being source of IRA?

News has it that a father, (fmr President) and his two sons are running for Senate.  Is this true?  Certain questions are raised:

1.  Will it be constitutional?  Yes because the Senate has been populated (and as is now)  brother and a sister, mother and son, brothers  (before Mother and son)

2.  Are they doing this to regain consolidate power?

3.  To seek immunity from ICC?

4.  To get even with political enemies?  To protect allies?

Are we a republican monarchy?  Or going back to  the times of the datu (only by elections?)

Everybody is now envious.   They say sana all.

Congratulations Senate Pres.     However this sets a precedent to which everybody may not be prepared to handle and/or implement.  The august body can do this maybe they have a large budget and large liquidity

If others in the govt follow suit, how much is needed?  Billions or trillions?  Where do they get the money

The labor groups are too quick that the private sector must follow suit.   How does this happen if all are hurt by inflation.  ie that many businesses are in precarious position too?   All of us suffering.

Also more money in circulation does not mean that the ayuda will help ease inflation but fuel this more as more PHP will be in circulation.

How do you treat an economic ailment?    Purge the patient, limit input, or give more inputs:    IV fluid

Vitamins.      Remember IMF/WB imposed belt tightening -   revenue generation and frugality programs to guide us on the way to recovery.  But modern approach has been like an MD treating patients in the ER.  Resuscitate.   But what if everybody is in this together.  If liquidity crisis is worldwide, and if the debt crisis too much liquidity was behind all of this?

Where does the world get all the money?   Who will save the banking system?  Even the venerable banks are suffering (CSB JP Morgan?

Families, dynasties at Senate and in the entire country

The political system with Anti Dynasty provision notwithstanding is characterized by families lording it over the entire country.  It is a Yap Territory, Tan territory, bailwick of __________;   They have been running politics in this province since this is time immemorial.

It is like having a monarchial, family system running hte  country.    So at Senate we have family members:

1.  Cayetano  -   Pia and Allan;

2.  Villar  -  Mother and son

3.  Estrada -  Jinggoy and JV

Thats 6 out of 24 posts held by families

Had Binay made it, it would have been 4

Is it good for the country?   So far we know it is good for their families, especially if they have business interest to protect

So what do we expect?   Its all in the family?

The big fuss over the övepriced PPE and other supplies

At the start of pandemic, this office ordered face mask at P220 a box; if I recall we ordered 20 boxes.

Hindsight now, the face mask can be bought for P5@ or P50.00 a box, or even at P40.00 at Lazada

I was being kidded for overpricing.   

There were no available supplies then and if there were, the prices were really high.  Now that supplies have increased, the demand tapered off, local manufacturers are now available,, prices have nose dived.

Disposable PPE used to cost P700.00 each.  It can be had for P135.00 now.    

And so dear Senators, since most of you have political ambitions and politics is thick in the air, the line of inquiry indeed is suspect

From CNN Senate probe into P6.4 billion worth of shabu that passed through BOC

Several senators have expressed frustration and suspicion of outright lying, negligence incompetence and corruption at BOC in collusion with the Chinese businessmen..   The said Chinese had made fools out of the solons, BOC officials and general public.  Here is a crime committed, the drugs are here, there was importation, and yet there is no suspect yet.  The shabu traders taking advantage of the weakness of the customs procedure and systems were able to bring in drugs right under the  very noses of the BOC officials (with their complicity).   Up to now, the drug lords and unidentified.  PDEA has filed a case vs a caretaker Valenzuela RTC.   Here are the weaknesses:


1.  Allowing consignees to import.   A certain Aileen Tatad  of EMT traidingwas a consignee, paid P1,500 per shipment,  How come this allowed?   The consignee does not even know what the shipments are.  Very clearly, BOC allows dummies so that at the end of the day, no one can be held liable.  Turu turuan lang;

2.  The consignee points out to the  broker as the one responsible and knows the details of the shipment

3.  EMT trading a new importer was able to bring in 600 shipments in a matter of  3 months;

4.  She was put in super green lane, a lane reserved to big time multi national importers.  The BOC officials keep on saying that the computer overlooks certain parameters, as if computers think on their own (as noted by Sen Sonny Angara).  Every body knows that the parameters are fed by the encoders or whoever manages the computer

5.  Taguba,, the broker, did not deliver the goods to the consignee whose office is in Binondo but to the Valenzuela warehouse

He also reveals that he pays P27,000 per shipment at BOC as Payola

6.   When customs raided the warehouse, the head of intelligence only had a Letter of Authority, not a search warrant, and the evidence found may be considered illegal and may not stand in court

6.  Up to now 2 months after the raid, no one has been charged.

Also Mr. Richard Tan, who says that the operations  was all ready stopped, was alleged to continue operations even after they were alleged to have been closed by City of Valenzuela  (The Chinese nationals who are there seemed to be having a lot of fun (sa pagbilog ng mga ulo natin. They and BOC officials had a fine day)

Sen Escudero, notes NBI PDEA BOC have not not charged anyone for 600 kgs of shabu, but only several sachets of shabu would merit a gun fight or death.  Why are those govt agencies too timid to file charges?   Why not file case vs the warehouse owner?   Are they getting paid not to file a case, to look theother wahy around

Several reforms are in order:

1.   The use of consignees

2.  The 4 lanes and their parameters

3  The payment of P27,000. per shipment.   Sen Escudero computed that raising the tax per container up by P27,000 could easily raise P98 billion in revenues.    And save many people from additional taxes on fuel, or sugar.

Jose Ma Sison the founding Chairman of CPP NPA who exerts still a considerable influence  on the movement has apparently miscalculated the resolve of Duterte for daring the latter to stop the talking and fight, abandoning the ceasefire and fighting;  because of the latters desire for continued martial law.  The continued ML limits the movement of the armed troops/cadre of CPP NPA The attacks in Negros Mindanao by NPA military targets, the occupation of the NHA housing in Pandi, the loud protests at Batasan today the protests rally at Mendiola, the clash at US Embassy today are apparently instigated by Panggulong Sison.

The NPA is still considered as as an Foreign Terrorist Organization by US State Department

But Pres Duterte is a force to reckon with and we might still see in our  lifetime the end of the communist movement as it has died out at the rest of the world, which as has embraced socialist capitalism. Even where it was founded in Russia.

Duterte enjoys the whole support of  PNP and AFP and he makes sure by making them happy that that support continues is solid and unwavering.  He may have erred with Marvin Marcos, but that is the way he shows his support to the  PNP so that the latter will support him too to the end. And politically the vote he  got today from Congress and Senate for extension of Martial Law in Mindanao until December 2017 is solid proof of the power and strength of the govt represented by Duterte. From Inquirer - Senate Congress vote 261 -18 to extend Martial Law in Mindanao  The position of the leftist and other detractors did not get much support and traction  (Are the communists rebels losing their appeal

  And now for the CPP NPA, the end may be near.

While Duterte offered his hand of peace to the Communist, they chose to stay by their ideology of continued armed conflict, the never ending thesis anti thesis of Hegel. Why cant we live in peace? Why has there  to be conflict?   Why has it to be Panggulo ng Bayan?   Joe Ma?    It is as Pres Duterte has said to be silly.
