Are we building a society of mendicants and ayuda dependents? Are Ayuda funds the answer to Philippine progress?

It is more fun criticizing

The Senate si questioning the AKAP funds amounting to P39 B and may be for the right reason.  It together with other funds likek 4ps is sinking the country deeper into quagmire of rising debt, now at PHP 15 trillion.   The BIR and BoC are ill equpped to reach their own collection targets.  Many taxpayers have not fully recovered, and many have taxpayers fatigue with all the news of inept fiscal management.

I was in a meeting before with a govt executive who told a story about his cousin whom he gave free board and loding while studying the City's Unversity.  He was fortunate to have a job, as an OFW.  Upon his return, he was forking out a nice sum to the govt executive.  Which the latter refused immediately.

He said it was a slap on his face  It awakened him to a reality that that was an insult.   As a person, you must live to give, not to receive.

As is now.   If you are citizen it is your duty to contribute to earn for the community.  To be called a makabayan.  Not to receive doleouts from govt and from others.

This AYUDAs create a culture of mendicancy and lackk of initiatibve and industry.  Its entirely counter prodcuctive and can not push our country to progress.   No one will strive to study, to fund a job, work hard to earn, and thus contribute to country's progress and patrimony.

Whoever thought of this is creating a  govt sponsored/funded kitty fund for launching a nationwide campaign to get elected

It is time to balance and re examine the social welfare role, and revenue raising role of the govt.

Welfare mendicancy bad for government budget debt

It is more fun criticizing

Most of those being interviewed prior to Sona sish more ayuda and help and yet we have fewer taxpayers, and govt debt has been ballooning.  That is bad for the civic duty we are all promoting:   " Ask what you can do  for the country not what the country can do for you. " Many of our citizens expect more ayuda, rather than being able to help ie to contribute to govt coffers

Cleansing of 4ps list of recipients

It is more fun criticizing

This  post congratulates Sec. Erwin Tulfo for cleansing the list 4ps beneficiary in addition to reminding office staff who do not answer the hot lines of the department.  This goes a long long way in making sure that the department becomes efficient and responsive to the citizenry.

This is a great balancing act when purging the list of recipeints.  What is the point when aid is needed by the "poorest of the poor"  or when is culture of mendicancy to be discouraged.

It was reported that many farmers have abandoned farming becausee of the ayuda.

Nothing in the world is free.  The ayuda either comes from taxes which we pay or from foreign debt (which we taxpayers eventually pay

It is not the duty of the state to provide for the needs of every one to survive.  It the responsibility of every one to earn for his keeps

Dont be a victim ; of build a culture of dependency mendicancy, and entitlement

It is more fun criticizing

Last Saturday, as I was eating an 8 to 10 year old approached me to beg.  May be I was mean with the  child beggar.  But I asked if he had a father;  why not ask his father for his food and his needs.  He said he has a father.

Why should we encourage mendicancy and dependency in our country.  I too was born into a poor family but my parents showed that we have to work hard for our meals, avoid begging even from relatives.   Learn to depend on yourself.

The govt 4ps and the TV programs of get rich quick and lotto juetend do not help much.

Children learn mendicancy early

Social and political criticisms

In coffee shops and in small restaurants I see a lot of children begging.  As we join others in biking many children lined up the street ask for few pesos.  I interview them and I ask if their parents are dead or alive.  They say they are still alive.  Why then do they beg?

Are we giving them wrong values if we give them money when they beg?  Or are we just following the Christian values to help others who are in need?

What do you think?

Are TV programs handing out big doleouts good?

Many Pro Poor Programs Promote Patronage and Mendicancy

Filosofo Tasio Lives

The Christian religion espouses kindness and  compassion.  That is why there is no shortage of aid and welfare program on food, shelter, housing and education.  This is quite admireable.  But if DSWD discourages begging by street children, then the same must be discourged at all levels and magnitude. Or even TV shows that encourage people to wait for the big time (that is why jueteng or casino is bad; they demotivate people to work for their success)

One time, we  had a forum on social entrepreneurship.  The land being occupied by the beneficiaries is tax exempt in the beginnning.  But when I asked. when will the beneficiaries pay taxes, they say they do not know?   What, they will not share the tax burden so that others will be helped?  All they want is to be helped?

Where did everybody get the socialist streak that everything must be done by the government?

My wife is going to have her baby next week.  DWSD where are you?  Mayor?  Barangay captain?  Is it not the responsibility of the father to make sure that he has the money for the delivery of his baby?

Where is the livelihood program of the government?

Where is the govt support for the nata de coco production?  For the rice production?

Where is the government support for the athletes? (Mind you in many countries, sports programs, like maybe cycling are privately funded enterprises)

The government does not have all THE ANSWERS NOR THE RESOURCES FOR ALL OUR PROBLEMS.  We citizens must share in the burden, or even take the lead.

DWSD Vs Begging by Street Children

Filosofo Tasio Lives

I used to give coints to children lined up in Pililla during the Christmas holiday as I pass this way.  However, DWSD discourages such practice as it encourages mendicancy.  True enough, when children learn to beg, they love the motivation to work and earn a living.

But it is Chirstamas time?
Where is the spirit of Christmas?

What about other forms of mendicancy and dependency being fostered by society and government:   gawad Kalinga, the welfare fund of the executive branch.?  We just help the really needy?  Who determines who is the really needy?  Really Poor?

Livelihood instead of alms?
