More protest rallies held vs sudden DU30 arrest; will unsettle the financial markets

It is more fun criticizing

More and more protest rallies are being held across the countries especially in Visayas and Mindanao against the sudden arrest of FPRRD.   It is hoped that these are sporadic and spur of the moment.   Prolonged sustained protest can cause damage to Philippine financial markets and could deter the country from reaching its economic targets.   Says a former deputy governor of BSP

The number of protest could be a gauge for people support to the former President and impact the result of elections of Senators and congressmen.  The arrest timing sucks for many.

LA fires are result of Gods wrath for Glasser at Golden Globe mocking God?

It is more fun criticizing

The religious, the God fearing netizens are alleging that Gods wrath caused the razing to the ground of many areas in parts of  Los Angeles.  It was Gods wrath after God was mocked in Golden Globe awards.  There were even scenes elsewhere in LA, that say "Keep out God from LA"

But on the ground we know that mismanagement, poor leadership, bad politics caused this tragedy and apocalypse:

1.   The govt of LA of CA were not prepared;   little number of scoop planes hydrants not working, dry reservoir (The Sta Ynez)  They did not call National Guard and the military on standby.

2.  Poor response of firefighters   Only 5 engines were dispatched to Palisade early on   There was lack of personnel, fire engines (with many in disrepair) arising from reduction of budget.  The City Mayor was said to have caused the reduction of FD budget by $17 million.  The governor was said to have reduced the budget by $100 million.   People decry supporting Ukraine with billlions of dollar in military aid, and Israel in war in Gaza.

3.  Liberal, laws that favor the environment did not allow:   controlled burn of dried vegetation and leaves, because it will kill certain animals.   The water from Canada were diverted to Pacific Ocean because newt is endangered specie. The governor did not pay attention to Trump suggestion in raking the forest floor.

Politics in CA will change, and probably the policies especially in treating citizens welfare vs the wildlife.

Citizens life and property must be protected.

The rich and famous at Palisade and Hollywood will no longer be for sometime and suffer poverty just like the rest of us.

Comment - Covid 19 an avenue for flexing power and political adroitness?

It is more fun criticizing

Rizal Philippines
June 13, 2020

This post sees coVid19 as an opportunity for politicians to consolidate their power, organization, and distribute rewards early on before the 2022 elections

1.  The barangays though ill prepared to handle complex aid distribution were given vast amounts of power, and of course they are now beholden to one man/organization.

2.  The military were delegated vast powers to arrest and even shoot troublemakers.  And in the end there were deaths;   needless deaths and plenty of imprisonment.

All of a sudden, the common citizen feels subdued and incarcerated for the sake of public health issues. But one sees double standards:   for social massing as in the case of Police General, and in riding in tandem for couples:    military shamelessly ride in tandem, while it is prohibited for the majority.

3.  The SAP largesse was a form of political campaign taken out of public funds running into billions, and now the govt is engaged in double talk because it finds out it could not fund the billions that it promised to the people.  But were authorized under the BAHO law

4.  During the pandemic many agenda were pushed that are not relevant to the  coVid19 and which do  not recognize the difficulties of the people during the pandemic:

      1.  Registration of the bicycles (just because  many are using this)
      2.  Taxing on line sellers (those who are just being entrepreneurial due to the  difficulty in finding
            jobs;

However one sees a mature politician and technicians making sure that the opponents of the state and his are made aware of the vast political powers and authority that he has and are warnings to those who will cross his path.  Be it the media, leftist legal fronts.

Deaths from landslide as in Itogon and Naga Cebu and floods shall persist unless...

It is more fun criticizing

Rizal Philippines
September 27, 2018

We all grieve that so many lives were lost at the recent landslides in Naga Cebu, and in Itogon Benguet as
aftermath of two much rains:  with recent count of 69 at Itogon and 40+ at Naga Cebu.  The loss of lives and staggering.

Of course a lot of finger pointing and blaming goes on. A whipping dog and sacrificial lamb must be had.  Somebody must bear the sins. But who is to be blamed.?

1.  In Mt Province and elsewhere in the Philippines it is predicted that landslides will continue:  all the time.  It is the law of nature and nothing can prevent this. According to the late geophysicist Reynaldo Punongbayan, as for Mt. Province, since it is tall, it will fall the principle that what is high must come down.  So in Mt Province, the high mountains will erode and slide until the whole region flattens out.

So it is really dangerous to live near the mountains where there a peaks;  it is unsafe.  As in the Alps, there will be always avalanche.

So when DENR geophysicists declare a place unsafe, the LGU must obey and enforce the no residents
warning

2.  However due to politics, no LGU heads (mayors etc) have the guts nor the political will to enforce such
orders for fear of losing votes. In other areas, residents continue to live near flood prone areas, at river banks
because the mayors cant enforce risk reduction measures.   In Itogon, the  Mayor said that many residents
were requesting that they return to their homes right next to the collapsed area.   It is understandable:  they have to get their belongings, they love their homes

So what is next?  What is new?

Knowing people in high places can work both ways - can be good and bad

It is more fun criticizing

I had conversation with a former well known business personality in a famous sports club.  He used to be in high places in the govt and in business.  Reason?  He was a friend of the top honcho of the land.  He became chief of high profile govt offices, including a financial institution. He also had his own business.

He was the friend of the new and outgoing top honcho.  The incoming had great dislike for the outgoing.  However, he made the mistake of having the birthday of the old man celebrated within the premises of his office.  And then somebody made a gossip about the punctuation mark.

Let us move on to culture of resourcefulness and initiative away from culture of patronage and the free

Rizal  Philippines   |  November 24, 2013

Our laundryman seldom comes to work: when the govt local or national, distributes relief goods.  She gets more from her working out her duties but would rather degrade herself lining up for the coupon and registration, and getting the goodies --> measly 2 kgs of rice, two pieces of sardines, 1 kg of sugar.  The politicians rewarded her for doing that, and now that is her mindset.  She and the rest of her compatriots who were victims of the typhoon leave everything to the government, and without the govt, they will die.  They say:   "We did not die from the typhoon, but we are going to die without the govt help coming our way."  As if God did not create us without the power to be resourceful and have initiative.  We know the devastation is so much;  but as a Nora Aunor movie tells us:  "We create our Gods and our own miracles"

It is time we change the mindset of our constituents.  If it is backfiring even on the President and his cabinet, we only have ourselves to be blamed.  It starts with politics of patronage, of campaigning, and having a indebtedness and gratitude for that vote.

We have forgotten:  "Ask what you can do for your country, ask not what your country can do for you."

Leyte residents victim of deadly typhoon and politics?

It is more fun criticizing,

Philippines   |  November 23, 2013

There was this news at Asia News that mentioned about Casiple analyzing why there was a standstill in the distribution of relief goods in Leyte after the supertyphoon Yolanda.  There was a comment by the anchor that the residents of Leyte  suffered from two deadly attacks:  that of the typhoon and politics.   Political grandstanding, (rather than positive action) found its way into the aftermath of the disaster and we know the adverse results

Right after the typhoon the President visited Tacloban and met with the local officials.  The mayor was surnamed Romualdez (Alfred), an enemy of the President's family.  As a political rival, you know, there would be lack of support for relief, rescue.  And Casiple remarked that the President should have acted as President of the PHL not as President of Liberal Party.

I hope it is not.  Now there is Senator Poe proposing a new law strengthening disaster preparednesss.

I would like to say:

1. There are the NDRRMC  and whose leadership and procedures may just need to be tweaked/improved:

2.  There is the RA 7077 whose primary mission is disaster and relief operations;  the officers who are heads of the companies can be mobilized to assist in the relief operations using the assets of their company;  but that will smack of martial law (but we have such a law).

3. I just witnessed this morning the water rescue team of a nearby town and the members told me that they had a budget for training, drills, supplies, equipment

What else do we need?

Who rules Philippine society?

Social and political criticisms

They say only two:    politicians and the religious.

This morning, I heard a Bishop castigating a group of professors working in a Catholic university (a sectarian one) for supporting RH bill.   I thought professors have academic freedom.

Then there is the third one affecting us in the big way:   actresses and actors.

That is ARP:     Actors, Religious and Politics.    Thats arp

Why does the church have to accumulate so much wealth and power?

Social and political criticisms

The bible contains 30% verses on money and or business.  Yes that may be the reason why it has to earn things of this earth to spread the word of God. Or that it is necessary for it not to keep on asking money from everyone.

But we are all aware that the apostles were instructed to spread the word bringing nothing with them.  Or that is why celibacy is a must.  So that the ministers of the word are not tied up with worldly things.  And yet we see the church losing its investments (that was also mentioned in the scriptures)

And maybe the  church loses its focus on its mission and gets entangled in politics?

Why?
