Tearing down tarps billboards of candidates, negative messages at social media - are they winning tactics?

It is more fun criticizing

The tarp I put up for a niece running for a provincial board position was torn down at a wall within the  property line.   Well there are a hundred more tarps placed in strategic areas, and the candidate running unopposed is very likely to win.

I have seen posts by candidates experiencing the same seething with anger.  A gubernatorial candidate before (now an incumbent) complained about similar negative actions

How about negative campaigning?  Do they do good for the candidate.  Is the "Secret"  false?  Negative campaigning plant the seeds of enmity and  does not do well in case of power sharing of giving of jobs to the losers.   So much negativism leads to hate, to troubles and even wars.

Even debates generate negativity when rebuttals are made.  They are popular just like sabong, but does not endear the candidates to the target audience, nor the candidates to the network.  And those who are poor in public speaking definitely lose points in a negative laden debate.
