Incurring huge foreign and local debts to alleviate the pandemic

The current govt is highly criticized for incurring more trillion in debt.  Undoubtedly, the huge debt were used for the:   1.  billions in SAP   ayuda 2.  vaccines,   3.   test kits and PPE under the BAHO law.

Where must the govt stand:    1.   Support the huge funding during the pandemic  or  2. let it be for the pandemic.

The economic managers maintain that the debt is within limits

I think this govt chose to support the expenditures for the pandemic.   And we must thank the leaders for doing that.   As to whether there was graft, may be its a different matter.

Despite the severe criticism vs the incumbent President and upon learning of the many purchases made by the DND of ships and helicopters speak highly of achievement of the  President.  He may be imperfect but he did what even former General who became President was not able to do.  

Let us salute and thank the President.

What is your prediction.?  I do not like the winner in the survey but from the looks of it he is going to be the winner of the 2022 Presidential election.  

This post wonders why there is such a strong following despite all the mud that has been thrown to him?

Is it because he is good looking as well as his running mate that the young voters who comprise the majority are attracted to him?  Or may be they do not know his past well enough.  Or that many think that the sins of the father cant be the sin of the  son.

Setting up Strategic Oil Reserves

Rather than talking about subsidy to drivers and other oil users, the DOE should have focussed on

    1.  Setting up renewable source  of energy.

    2.  Strategic stockpiles for fossil fuel

    3.  More oil exploration

We should not be in this situation where oil becomes expensive because we depend on foreign sellers had we hang on to Sabah which is the source of oil might of Malaysia.  This post is happy that a foreign court is forcing Malaysia to pay rent to Sultan of Sulu and/or share oil revenues.

Maybe we do not have money to set  storage facility/tank farm,  or buy oil which was very cheap two years ago.   China is always on the look out for sources of commodities like oil.  It keeps on buying oil companies or maybe crude.  It lends to LDC countries rich in oil production.  We can do that now?  Anyway we are on debt splurge?

Or the BSP can simply lend to the treasury and the country buys foreign exchange to buy oil at cheap

prices then?

This post is happy that Presidentiable Lenny Robredo has a cogent foreign policy view on WPS; that we will not be dragged into a conflict.  This contrast with some of the positions taken by foreign policy experts, former senior office  of the  govt on the same issue.
