Love is in the air. It is Valentine's day today and love is being given to cataract patients by the doctors in US doing free operations. The trouble is this is promoting mendicancy and those who even can afford (they come in cars and vans) take advantage of this free service.
Why cant we instead:
l. Lower the health care cost across the board?
2. Institutionalize low cost cataract operations as what they did in India at Aravind Hospital. I encouraged a group of eye doctor come up with the business plan but they were unable to execute this. It was good enough to get a grade.
