SC stops virtual smuggling of used luxury cars at Port Irene

Social and political criticisms

From PHL Daily Inquirer by Melvin Gascon | Feb 5, 2013

A Supreme Court ruling affirming the constitutionality of EO 156 banning the importation of used vehicles at SBMA stopped virtual smuggling at Port Irene CEZA in Sta Ana, Cagayan.  Everybody has known this since 3 years ago (our students from Cagayan asked if I wanted a cheap Range Rover or Ferrari, but I demurred).

They said a top senior official from Cagayan is a patron of the said operations.

Perhaps the recent trouble of the said official with his colleagues sparked the uncovering of this smuggling operations.  Hmmmm.
