May P211 milyones nga ba si Presidentiable Duterte BPI Dona Julia Vargas branch kaya siya ay mpeachable?

It is more fun criticizing

It has been alleged by VP Candidate Trillanes that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has P211 millions deposited at BPI Dona Julia Vargas branch.   This was not declared in the SALN of Rodrigo Duterte and therefore could be impeached. This came as a shock and could alter the outcome of the election for having brought out Duterte as a fraud, dishonest, lying shenigan despite his rising rating and popularity.  Yesterday Sec. Mar Roxas in a video branded Duterte as a liar (because Duterte denied the existence of the said account - but a citizen deposited P500 in the said account and the name of Duterte came out)

In the Philstar April 30, 2016 12:00 am article it was said that Duterte has only P27,000 in the said account as tweeted by TV 5 reporter Junytee Loyola.. The document was shown at Daet Camarines Norte rally.

On Monday, Duterte lawyer Salvador Panelo will be in BPI branch to open his account. to show how much deposit he has.  He asked Trillanes to be there.  The lawyer will open the account only if Trillanes shows the affidavit to show his allegation of the P211 million.

Duterte said that he will shut down Congress (not a nice thing to do) if he gets elected and there will be a threat of impeachment to prevent him from accomplishing his mission.  I hope this issue will not drag the good name of BPI into this mudslinging as well as the alleged informants of Sen Trillanes.

It is only 8 days before election.  There are families here in our province whom we think are hell bent on keeping the province to themselves and do not subscribe to the idea that political dynasty is unconstitutional.  They have an ambition to stay in power forever and have their family dominate the LGUs.

In case you do not like the idea of political dynasty, you can consider Steve Salonga for governor and Avelino Zapanta for Rep for first district of Rizal.  He is from Taytay and formerly PAL President.  Steve is LP and son of fmr Senator Jovito Salonga.

Let us vote them for a change, para patunayan na buhay ang saligang batas.

Is Duterte really way ahead in the Presidential race

April 30, 2016

 Just barely 8 days before election, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, candidate for President seem to be very much ahead of his rivals, as gleaned from the videos and polls.  If you go to You Tube, you find the following:

1.  Duterte's name being shouted in motorcade for other candidate;

2.  Rally in Mindanao for another candidate, but shouting the name of Duterte;

3.  Really large crowds of attendees in rally vs pictures of other rallies which have been photoshopped and filled with filler pictures;

4.  Allegations of vote buying by admin candidate in MM gathering; (P1,000)

5.  Allegations of incentives by a lady candidate in Mt Province;

6.   Preliminay results showing Duterte to be ahead in OFW polls, HK and ME;

7.  Impolite OFW shouting the name of Duterte in rally of an opponent.

8.  Less than expected number of attendees of rival rallies/motorcade

The business community seemed to be acting negatively as Bloomberg reported a 0.1% dip in peso value, allegedly because of the prospect of Duterte being the new president.

There are two negatives for Duterte: (mukhang nalimutan na ang Australian rape issue)

1.  The alleged P211 million deposit in BPI Julia Vargas branch as alleged by Trillanes (how he got this and exposed this makes him liable for violation of bank secrecy law, a conduct unbecoming of a Senator/legislator)  He however denied that there are no millions in the said account;

2.   The alleged performance in the MBC forum where del Rosario commented that he had nothing concrete for businessman.  Well, he said he will have peace and order, and peace and order is a necessary condition for business to thrive

City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's Plan for Peace and Order

April 27, 2016

Davao City Mayor Presidentiable Rodrigo Duterte spoke before the Makati Businessmen today.  This post only saw the part which was the most important part, about law and order.

He said he served for 40 years in the govt.  He was a law graduate from San Beda, served as prosecutor (fiscal) a congressman, and city mayor of Davao.  He said he is a gunslinger.   He seemed to have the most well rounded experience of all the Presidentiable  Myriaam would seem to equal his record having been a judge, a  BI Commissioner, a DAR secretary (but less of executive function as a mayor) a Senator.   Binay was a lawyer and did mostly mayors work.  Grace Poe would be more of legislative.  Yes she did some work at MTRCB.  Sen/Sec Roxas did some executive work at DILG and legislative work in the Senate.

He wants to get rid of crime in the Philippines and establish integrity up and down the govt (corrupt customs officials, barangay officials, PNP, take note) He requests that the other govt agencies:  Congress, the ombudsman, the human rights do not make him inutile.

He promised he will increase the salary of the PNP and that of AFP soldiers

Quran was misinterpreted on 72 virgin in heaven reward for Jihadis?

From Daily Galaxy - it is more of raisins than 72 virgins

Image result for will jihadist be married to 72 virgins when they die?

A Muslim scholar was recently interviewed at CNN at GPS by Fareed Zakaria.  She was kicked out of school for Muslim for being gay.  She said however that the interpretation of Islam should be corrected. For instance, the 72 virgin reward for jihadist.  It was wrong. It more of 72 raisins. (This did not come from Quran but from unreliable hadids)

When there are killings and violence in the name of jihadist and Muslim, the moderates are quick to defend the offenders. And apologize.  But we all know that Quran asked the offenders/jihadists to do just what they did.

Quotes:
According to an Islam tradition, Muslim martyrs will go to paradise and marry 72 black-eyed virgins. But some Koran scholars point to a less sexy paradise. While beautifully written, Islamic texts are often obscure. The Arabic language was born as a written language with the Koran, and growing evidence suggests that many of the words were Syriac or Aramaic.

Specifically, the Koran says martyrs going to heaven will get “hur,” and the word was taken by early commentators to mean “virgins,” hence those 72 concubines. But in Aramaic, hur actually meant “white” and was commonly used to specifically mean “white grapes.”

From fellowship of Mind

So if every man gets at least 2 black-eyed virgins in paradise, each of whom comes with 70 servant girls who also are virgins, that means each man gets at least 142 virgins, not 72 virgins.
It gets better if you’re a Muslim man who’s married.
As the looney-tune cleric says, with a blissfully insane smile: “If you get married in this world, then [in paradise], you get your wife from this world, along with 70 black-eyed virgins with whom you are allowed to have sex, and each of these 70 virgins comes with 70 servant girls. So how many women do you get? That’s the minimum.”
Answer: 70 x 70 = 4,900
Truly, Islam is a cult for morons.

Are the Quran passages referring to raisins?

Davao City Mayor Digong Duterte emerged as the overall winner of the final Presidentail debate held in Dagupan City yesterday with him garnering 65.74% of the  votes, followed by Administration candidate Mar Roxas with 18.03%, Senator Myriam Defensor Santiago was third with 11.83, Grace Poe - 3.72 % and VP Binay last - 0.67%

The third debate was held in University of Pangasinan Phinma and co organized by the KBP, ABS CBN, Comelec and Manila Bulletin.

Duterte also topped the two other  2 Presidential Debate s held in Cagayan de Oro and Cebu.

Many netizens who voted perhaps liked the practical and down to earth, common sense approach of Duterte.  Myriam was more academic and as if speaking from a pulpit  and theoretical in her answers.   Grace Poe was seen by this post as sweet talking and evasive at times regarding her personal circumstances. Her  envisioned welfare programs could make PHL end up like Brazil Well Mar Roxas is seen more as technocrat rather than as a soon to be father of the Philippines.

In our province, many citizens are printing T shirts and tarpaulin for Duterte.  Many people in poor neighborhood, in many conversations about their candidates tell me that they are for Duterte.  One employee we interviewed said he and his co employees are for Duterte.  He works for the largest DU

The commentators though of the debate were not for Duterte. Some observers note that the organizers seemed to have bias for Poe and Roxas and vs Duterte.  (Or that the questions could have been leaked to Roxas hence his answers)

From Manila Bulletin - Palace defends use of Pres Helicpter by Sis Kris

Palace defended the use of Presidential Helicopter by his sister Kris Aquino in the campaign sorties of  Pres. candidate Mar Rozas. There are two issues I am against here:  that the Presidential helicopter is but for the official use of the President of the Philippines only and not his sister nor other members of the family.  Propriety suggests that they take another plane or vehicle since they are not the President; in the same light that Kris or other members of the family could not attend for and in behalf of Pnoy, nor deliver speeches for him.  This is an abuse of govt properties

And for use in campaign by Mar.  Bah.

Tama lang ma slam or ma criticize si Kris.   Baka nga siya nagdidikta kay Pnoy sa mga policies of the govt.  Anyway,  its her popularity in the show biz that won Pnoy to be the Pres.  Tama lang gamitin ni Kris ang Presidential symbol of power and might

Saudi Arabia set to borrow $10 billion dollars

Philippines April 22, 2016

From CNBC

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to issue bonds (to borrow) in the international market its first in 25 years in the amount of $10 billion.   The offer was oversubscribed especially from Asian banks, despite the downgrading of KSA due to ballooning budget deficit and declining oil revenues.

KSA has burned through since 2014 a $150 billion cash reserves since 2014.  Oil prices has shrunk from a high of $100 to just over $30 lately.  Most Arab countries break even at $80.00 per barrel of oil.

Thus do we believe that all good things must come to an end? Once a high and mighty nation, forced to borrow money, hat in hand.   Tsk6  Dont be surprised if they fire millions of workers soon.

If there was no more oil, or less revenue from oil, KSA is just but a band of bedouins and goat and camel herders.  How pitiful.  In our country, we can grow our own food and dig our own water.  In KSA they could not even depend on their common wealth - oil.

From Rappler

There were news that Presidentiable Mayor City Digong Duterte, if ever he gets elected, he would cut ties with US and Australia.  This came in the wake of his comments about the raped and slain Australian lay minister that she was so beautiful, she was gang raped.  Dapat siya nauna?  The respective ambassadors of the said countries Austrialia and US slammed Duterted.  Duterte asked them to shut their mouth (The envoys do not have business interfering in local affairs) Many analyst think that this unsavory comment would bring Duterte down from his perch as a leading presidential candidate as of the latest survey.

It is odd that the incumbent Pres, Pnoy commented.  (Also down from his high ground)

Duterte should be wary of the CIA ops that they see to it that they have regime friendly to the US.   In that aspect, Poe, who is allegedly an American citizen would easily be swayed by Americans.  And that he may lose because of his latest statement.   A pr practitioner lamented that it was nightmare to work with Duterte for being so unpredictable or for his statement in public. But she will vote for him for being action oriented and for being straight forward and for a change.

Brazil congress in an unprecedented move, voted to oust President Dilma Rouseff who leads the left leaning Workers Party. The vote was 367 in favor and 137 against She used to be an activist and has led many of the workers out of poverty through her social programs.  However this has led her country into recession and economic difficulties.  Her reign is tainted with corruption especially with state owned oil giant Petrobas

After the Senate proceedings, VP Michel Termer  78 would be the temporary President.   And if found guilty, Termer would serve out the term of Rouseff until 2018.

4 out of 8 Pres of Brazil failed to complete their term.

Some say that the man leading Congress, Eduardo Cunha would be the next  one to be impeached.  He is accused of corruption; many of those who voted are accused of corruption as well.

Brazil is the world"s 9th largest economy and with a population of 200 million.  Her presidency has caused deep division in Brazil which is host to Olympics this year.

The impeachment moves to Senate who needs only a majority vote to have Rouseff impeached.

The deal which took two months to set up failed when Iran did not send representative since they said, they would not agree to production cuts anyway.

The news sent the oil prices spiralling down again.   The inability of OPEC to strike a deal and agree on price has diminished its power to control prices and would have a serious implication on oil prices

Declining oil prices not good for the economy after all

It is more fun criticizing

Philippines April 13, 2016

Image result for Threat of deflation

MIT - can deflation be prevented?

Deflation a threat to investors?

The plunging oil prices may be good for consumers: those who use gasoline and diesel fuel (like in fuel thirsty country like US)  But not good for the oil producers.  It has created difficulties and hardship for oil drillers rig makers, employees of oil companies, lenders to oil industry.  No investments are being made in oil production.  It has affected not only those in the industry but outside the industry.  It has also created downward spiral elsewhere in the economy.

In the ME a number of OFWs who work in the oil related industries are being sent home.   So this has affected consumer behavior as well.  Many consumers are buying less.  Economist say this is deflationary which is worrisome.  Prices will continue to plunge contracting the economy and leaving in its tailspin an economy in recession.

Deflation raises real value of debt and makes it harder to service.   It is a threat to investors.  For many central banks, the lower limits of low low interest rate has been reached.  (Why Japan now has negative interest rate?)

In most countries recession is tame, or no longer poses a threat.

Countries with floating currency like Japan and US can counter this with printing more money.   Easier said than done.

Do you agree?

How horrific.  The attack was staged in January 2015  Wednesday the two suspects Ouachi brothers, both born in France stormed the Charles Ebdo offices and systematically executed the cartoonist (those who lampooned prophet Mohammad) They killed 12 people in all.  Then another one shot police officers; the suspect is identified as Ahmed Coulibay.

On Friday the police surrounded a magazine building where the suspects  the Ouachi brothers were holed up.  They were shot dead.

Coulibay on the other hand held 15 hostages in a hypermart, killed 4 others before being attacked by the police.  He was shot dead.
