Making the poor productive (or restoring wealth); or how leaders destroy the country they lead

It is more fun criticizing

This post is alarmed at so many welfare programs in cash in form of "ayuda" that are definitely draining the treasury.    At the same time we see lack of support to the sector that pays it all:   the taxpayers... The Revenue offices and the LGU s are bearing hard on tax payers:   support for the unproductive sector of the economy and difficulties for those who generate the revenue.  Developing human resources.  Thats our purpose in life:   to develop our gifts and use it to advance the world.    Not promote dependence an mendicancy

We were taught in grad school is social philosophy that the goal of the govt is to make the poor productive and not creating a welfare state.   Social states were not productive and failed.  Look at Venenzuela to see why its economy is in shambles.

And yet this persists in the country and to fund huge social welfare programs, the country has to borrow in trillions   Wait to see the consequence

This post avoids long discourse on this topic;   its beyond the scope of this article...

While we need to help those who cant eke out their living and have challenges, most of the fund can be used to fund:   training to be more productivee, livelihood programs, increasing farm productivity.   Of course corruption has removed most of the resources for these programs

Making the poor productive - social philosophy in the 1980s

It is more fun criticizing

It was the in thing in social philosophy while I was taking my masters.  My professor was the Dean, an American Jesuit.

It simply means that rather than teaching mendicancy, we train poor people to be productive, achievers, positive mindset, rather than being clingy and dependent.  Down with welfare state.  Welfare state
have failed, and even oil rich country like Venezuela could not sustain a welfare state.  It resulted in bloated budget, and hyper inflation and a failed economy

The state is a Daddy of human beings in the country.    It is the responsibility of individual to raise and feed his family.

This is a critique of 4ps program in the govt.  The beneficiaries no longer want to work.

I often lecture young ones who apparently look healthy begging. I ask for their fathers and they should ask their fathers for money.   We discourage hard work ambition and good citizenship by giving alms to strong young people.   Big countries experienced hardship and hardwork on their way to progress.  Make no mistake about that

How to make a country rich video  -  Bangladesh.  Not by way of resources but being tops in garment production.   One of most populated countries in the world.  Gained independence in 1972.  Even richer than Pakistan

Is PH fast becoming a FREE COUNTRY - social welfare state?

This post think that the country is becoming a free country.  A social welfare country.  Where many things are free and may be this will disincentivize the peoples desire to be disciplined to be in hard work,  And maybe to encourage them to be lazy.  Marami nang libre:

       1.  The 3 c for those without jobs
       2.  The free tuition for SU and colleges
       3.  And now a  young congressman from Davao seeks to end poverty

Siyempre maraming bibilib diyan may buy in.  Kasi libre.  As we saw the throngs that gathered in Los Banos for the alleged return of Marcos wealth.

But where do we get the money?   All ready the govt the Treasury is running into deficit.  Again the taxpayers who sweat blood and tears will bear the burden.  And how about the free loaders?

Kung US kaya nilang mag deficit,eh hindi naman ganong kalakas ang economy natin.  Even US is finding difficulty in legislating for the continued US public debt which may be all ready in $20 trillion.  Mostly because US has become a welfare state too with the health care, the food stamps, the subsidies etc.

Venezuela, an oil rich country is running into trouble, may be a civil war, because it became a welfare country.  Even its oil revenues can not keep up giving free loads to its people.  It is now into deep shit, and the peoples conditions are bad.  That is why there is an on going protest.  Baka mangyari sa PH. The land of the free

Political and economic woes in Venezuela

It seems like a flash since April Fools Day.

We may not be aware of it but Venezuela is experiencing great political (social) and economic turmoil.

From Forbes - worsening crisis in Venezuela

From CNN

Protests are frequent occurrences (because of hunger
                                                  and few working days )
Economic:

1.  Inflation is at 1,600% .  It is predicted to be half this year but at 2,000% in 2018.

2.  Food and medicine is at short supply, There is even lack of electricity, despite the fact that it sits on top on one of the richest oil deposit in the world.  Most of the food is imported.

3.  Unemployment is at massive 25%

4.  The govt has taken over multinational companies who shuttered down their operations and pulled out of the country.

PHOTO: An empty supermarket is pictured in Caracas, on May 28, 2016. This is attributed to:  socialist policies of predecessor of Pres. Maduro.  (Chavez)  The only solution is hike wages, and food stamps for people, and resort to rationing.

Change of currency, devaluation, more borrowings will mean the country being nearer collapse, (exacerbate the matters)

Oil was nationalized by the govt (it took ownership of oil production facilities from private owners) and accounts for 95% of country/s export and 25% of the GDP.  But oil price has taken a beating because of too much inventory, and cracks at OPEC.  (Even Saudi has made massive borrowings to make up for shortfall in national budget) and focused its growth target on non oil business

It was concluded by experts that the country is unlikely to make its debt payments this year and will need massive intervention from the IMF.
