We should admire the Presidency for offering his hands of peace to the NDF, and other rebel groups. However, as a former idealouge myself, a leftist during college days, I know that the leadership, once they have taken a position, they will not change.   For most leftists, it is Hegelian dialectics.   The nations and society can only move through incessant conflicts;  not dialogues.  Thus the expensive, overseas peace talks will lead only to one thing. As we see, the govt and the NDF have been dancing around on a purported peace talk and nothing gets done with the NDF advancing difficult unachievable agenda, and coupling that with double talk.   Peace negotiation with kidnappings and attacks on security forces of the govt.

As far as other terrorists are concerned,  they only understand one language -  force.  Violence.   They also fear death.  Once you terrorize their communities and relatives, then they can understand the wrong they have been doing.   As being done with the ISIS Maute group.  Next time they will think 30 times before they will launch anything.    Even fellow Muslims wish them well that they get annihilated for causing all the harm to Marawi

89 suspected foreign terrorists have entered Southern Philippines

While the arguments in SC (it is suggested that this be stopped because this is a shameful exercise because scores risk their lives fighting to preserve our freedom, and we still argue what the fighting is all about?) it is reported that 89 nationals have entered  the country through porous Southern Philippine border.

There are three known entry points of these foreign nationals. The intelligence report mentioned:

he undated intelligence report obtained by Kyodo News said among the suspected foreign terrorists are 28 Indonesians, 26 Pakistanis, 21 Malaysians, four Arabs, three Bangladeshis, one "Indian-Singaporean", and one Singaporean.

If you have been to Mindanao, the  Indonesians and Malaysians blend very well with the locals and you cant distinguish one from the other.    And vice versa too.

Is this a cause for worry?

Some of the Malaysians and Indonesians may have dressed like civilians and joined  the evacuees to Iligan and  Manila.

What should prevent them from regrouping and having  a foothold elsewhere  in the country?   The martial law could help limit their movements and growth.

Today is the Lourdes Day. We commemorate the apparition of Virgin Mary at Lourdes France, the site of many healing miracles (there is a replica in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan)

We now hear about many "Resign Pnoy chant" because of his alleged involvement  (direct hand) in the said operation, and his absence during the honor rites as the fallen 44 arrived at VAB.

How do you deal with ever increasing number of terrorists and terrorism organization?  Negotiate, pay the ransom, be a victim?   Be cowed?

It is good that Pres Obama and the coalition are taking a much bolder and braver stand vs the terror threat.  They must be given a dose of their medicine.  Terror.  Terror begets terror.  If they murder children and women who are not related to the issue, the same hand must be dealt to their women and children.

Nat Geo 9/11 documentary

There is a feature at Nat Geo about the documentary of what happened at 9/11 some 13 years ago yesterday.

What was notable was failure in security and defense strategy/tactics.   CIA and FBI did not share information so terrorist were able to move freely around..   The security measures were not tight enough.  The pilots were able to train undetected.  Some intelligence data from the Phil  were also ignored.
