In a conciliatory move, as advanced by Sen Zubiri, the Senate wants to restore the budget for OVP

Although the proegressive block is seething with moves to impeach the VP.  We learn that her former underling has proofs of misbehavior by the VP in her use of confidential funds.

Will this conflict end.?  Will we see secession of Mindanao from Luzon?   Who will be better off with this secession  Mindanao -  being land of opportunity  or Luzon being source of IRA?

In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court ruled 9-6 in favor of Sen Grace Poe allowing her to run. Only the result of the voting was announced by SC spokesman and not the basis for voting. The two issues are the 10 years residency and Sen Poe being a natural born citizen.  (The grapevine says she was born in US)  But some say that she is likely to have US support.  Duterte does not have that support for antagonizing US, for having leanings towards the left and its erstwhile leader Jo Ma Sison.  (US embassy denied having an appt. set for Duterte)

The detractors of the good Senator says though that the legal arguments  by SC allowing her to run  are weak.  Lawyer Estrella Elamparo said she is shocked at the ruling.   Many commented that the decision runs smack vs the constitution.

The Presidenatiables hoping for swing votes in case Sen Poe was disqualified have to work very hard.  Sen Grace Poe is  ahead of the polls. VP Binay or Sec. Roxas could have benefitted from the Poe disqualification.

We may yet have a another lady President.

Sen Myriam and Sec Roxas are not in the running.  Duterte, Binay, and Poe are in the peloton.

Sen Grace Poe got yesterday at TRO on her DQ case at Comelect (first division, 2nd division and en banc) and Sen Poe thanked the SC for just and compassionate decision

We all know that Sen Poe is a Filipino and her domicile is the Philippines, That is why the Filipino people voted her as the #1 Senator in the last election.   Her domicile is the Philippines.  Now as for the technicality being thrown against her as foundling and failure to meet the residency requirement, we all know that they are merely thrown to cloud the issue.  Why was there no DQ envisioned by the Roxas camp while they were wooing Grace Poe?  Why there was a DQ case filed after she signed a n endorsement for plunder case vs. VP Binay?

Digong Duterte whom I admire also committed a blunder by saying he is running because he does not want to see an American become a President.  Sen Grace Poe is a Filipino.    The SC saw the light and the series of articles defending Sen Poe on this.

We are happy that there will be level field for the Presidential candidate.  DQs cases or petition to deny due course are seen as political strategies to silence using legality and technicality, to eliminate the opposition/competition

Justice Carpio has argued that she is not a a natural born Filipino but naturalized and thus can not run as President under the 1986 constitution

There are two issues against her:  that of her residency and being a natural born citizen.

The biggest issue against her, according to one in the know I talked this morning is about her citizenship;
1.  At the time she "reacquired" her Filipino citizenship she used her US passport 7x.  If indeed she was all ready a Filipino citizen, by deed she would have used her Philippine passport.

2.  Our Philippine constitution:  the 1935 and the 1986 does not guarantee that you maintain your Filipino status once you acquire another citizenship as in the Spanish constitution.  Once the citizenship is renounced, as in the case of Sen Grace Poe, the only way to reacquire this is by naturalization, thus her status of naturalized citizen

But Section 3 of RA 9225 (AN ACT MAKING THE CITIZENSHIP OF PHILIPPINE CITIZENS WHO ACQUIRE FOREIGN CITIZENSHIP PERMANENT) says that after taking an oath, gives her back her status of natural born citizen, after having been a citizen of foreign country.  Did she take this oath

Valenzuela City Mayor Win  Gatchalian said she did reacquire her Filipino citizenship under this law.?
