A federal judge has blocked the ban by Pres. Trump to process student visas. So the state department has ordered the issuance of visa to said foreign students.

Will POGO ban affect the real estate sector, stock market?
It is more fun criticizing
Some economist say the effect will be minimal. Govt officials say that the revenue from POGO is not that much. China welcomed the banning of POGO
There is much negative social effect: source of criminality, scams, well losses from gambling. And as the Senate investigation is pointing out, can be source of security risk - espionage. Some of their workers could be spies, or soldiers of the PLA
All ready, real estate companies are predicting drop in rents as many offices will be vacated. Initially the real estate market reacted. The prices of real estate companies drooped days after the POGO ban was announced.

POGOs to go by year end says PBBM at SONA
It is more fun criticizing
The POGOs have until year end to be legal in the Philippines, after which they are banned. This could be on offshoot of the discovery of crimes coming from POGOs due to problems in Bamban Tarlac and Porac Pampanga, and as a result of on going Senate hearing on Alice Guo.
The chamber of commerce have pointed out the negative effect on real estate, employment, revenue collection with POGO ban. Maybe its politically unpalatable to the President. So he had to decide against POGO.
This was contained in PBBMs SONA address July 24, 2024. He said that POGO ban would solve many of our problems but not all of them . He ordered PAGCOR for the winding down of their operation by year end 2024

Thoughts on Big Religious organization defiance of ban on mass gatherings
It is more fun criticizing

Rizal Philippines
3.23.2021
The largest religious group today defied the order of IATF which controls the public health regulations during the covid19 pandemic The govt has threatened to use its police power to close down organizations defying the govt laws and regulations.

With due respect to the church top echelons:
1. The scriptures in Romans,, admonishes every one to follow authorities who run the govt as authorized by God Himself https://www.bibleref.com/Romans/13/Romans-13-1.html
2. There were deaths in US attributed to continuance of church services despite the ban. The pastors themselves died. https://www.usnews.com/news/us/articles/2020-03-31/louisiana-pastor-says-hell-keep-violating-coronavirus-ban
3. The science data has records of super spread attributed to religious rites and gatherings.
It is not discrimination between spas, gyms and church; it is about protecting lives of many people, and stopping the march of covid19 which is on the rise. It is not about lessening the church importnce in the lives of the people nor their powers and authority
Can we obey and bring order to this troubled country.?

Duterte to stop interviews and conferences with media
It is more fun criticizing

From Manila Bulletin PSG bans network from covering DU31 thanksgiving party
From Rappler
There will be no longer press conferences and interviews with the media, according to to be Presidential aide Christopher Go told in an interview last June 3, 2016. Talk less, less mistakes would be an apparent objective. Instead, press releases and interview will be through state run television.
However, this post sees this as an apparent reaction to the call for boycott by NUJP, regarding the misunderstanding on his statement about journalists who were killed and who were corrupt (I listened to the statement / audio of the statement, and there was no causal statement to that effect) The retaliation started by having all media, except PTV 4 banned from covering his thanksgiving party
Really if you quote his statement out of context, then you can misunderstand Digong. For example, about giving the citizen the right to kill criminals the drug lord. What he said was, the citizen must cooperate with the authorities in arresting drug lords and sellers. If you have a gun, and the criminal fights, then the citizen can kill the criminal. (Taken out of context, you can think of Duterte changing the criminal code?)

UK Stops Use of Khat
It is more fun criticizing
Rizal Philippines | June 25 2014
British Home Secretary Theresa May has announced the banning of Khat a mild stimulant brought by citizens of Cape Horn (south Africa). Theresa May went against the advice of ACMD (Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drug) which says that there is not much evidence to merit its ban. Other than few cases of liver toxicity
May had to issue the ban because of pressure from other Western Countries who has banned the substance and complaints from wives who complain that husbands and other males spend too much time chewing khat.
Do you think the ban is justified?
