Name dropping is the name of the game - "palusot"

It is more fun criticizing

"No man is above the law". " Govt of men rather than of names"

We want a government because we want order.  Many people want disorder.

It is is time we become mature and we stop this practice to pretend to be in power even if were are not.

Disorder, traffic jams, widespread chaos will continue if we continue this practice.

Watah watah celebration exceeded limits of good festivities; piestahan, and as netizen said, became "pestehan"

It is more fun criticizing

It was St John the Baptist Festival last June 24, and as usual there were lot of Basaan (water dousing)  - supposed to be good clean fun.   However, some of the residents jointing the religious celebration seemed to have exceeded their limits, and even provisions of the City Ordinance  like wetting jeepney passengers, dousing water to passengers and drivers inside the vehicle.  There was even acid throwing incident.  A rider filed case for being assaulted while working

Soon cases will be filed vs individuals who were videotaped.  We hoped that they will be disciplined and the same shall not be repeated.   And we must practice decency and control during such celebrations.  It gives bad names to Catholics and Christians.

We have similar celebration in our town fiesta,  But we have not done such similar things.

Future celebrators for St John -  behave

Did God create evil?

It is more fun criticizing

Did God create evil?   Why would he?  And a nihilist argued that since such its the case, there is no God

But a wise student argued that darkness is the absence of light.  We know about light, but we do not know much about darkness since this is simply an absence of light, so no  facts or data exists for that phenomenon.

Evil, is simply the absence of God just like darkness.  It does not mean that the absence means the creation.   The student was Albert Einstein

Agree.?

We are a great country, with great achievement

It is more fun criticizing

Because of this post, many Filipinos comment have been largely negative and blame many things for being a laggard.

We have been affected by politicians and doomsayers who seem not to find anything good in us.

No need to denigrate, to be a detractor of our own country.  We need to always seek the good in us and the Philippines

We have to be proud of our achievement for having one of the highest GDP growth in South East Asia and in the world.

There is too much to be thankful for and be grateful for our country.  And to be proud of it.  Our fast growing population will be our strength.  Many countries like Japan and SK will look up to Philippines  for workers to take care of their olds, and to man their factories

Too much time and energy for Legislative hearing and inquiry

It is more fun criticizing

There seems to be too much time too much energy by our Legislature for hearings and inquiries.  A lot of peoples money being wasted for grandstanding and media mileage (because the 2025 election is near?

We could be better off leaving the investigation to the bodies in charge of investigation like DOJ, NBI, the prosecutors who are specialized in this job.  Less wrong rubbing of feathers, less embarrassment, more time for positive tasks and energy

Can we?

Father and sons running for Senate? No more anti dynasty respect?

It is more fun criticizing

News has it that a father, (fmr President) and his two sons are running for Senate.  Is this true?  Certain questions are raised:

1.  Will it be constitutional?  Yes because the Senate has been populated (and as is now)  brother and a sister, mother and son, brothers  (before Mother and son)

2.  Are they doing this to regain consolidate power?

3.  To seek immunity from ICC?

4.  To get even with political enemies?  To protect allies?

Are we a republican monarchy?  Or going back to  the times of the datu (only by elections?)

Only in the Philippines.  Very interesting

Landmark court decision profoundly affecting lives, progress and development of communities

It is more fun criticizing

Even wonder that in our vicinity there is scarcity of commercial, industrial and even large scale residential development funded by GFI?   Well its because most of the large tracts of land are untitled.  So large companies cant buy land because they cant have legal rights over the land.

All because of land mark court decision awarding ownership to an old Spanish family.  They have the sole power to allow future titling of lands.  And they are not giving any.   After reading all the legal mumbo jumbo, my conclusion is that there isnt going to be any title now and in the future in this municipality

Such byzantine justice set up in the country may be is one reason why the country is lagging behind neighbors.  Because men wear robes.

This is a decided case and we respect the court.  But the local govt objected, the lower courts decided that the title is....But the higher courts overturned and the highest sustained.   What do you call this?

Japan was my idol in business, economy, philosophy, and achievement

It is more fun criticizing

Despite being the conqueror of our country in WW2, and news of atrocities vs our people, as a business person I admired the achievement of Japan.  It was the No 2 biggest economy in the world after USA.

So I bought and read over and over books by Konosokue Mastsuhita, Akio Morita,  books on the Toyota Way.   Studied their quality circle, the voice of quality, Kaizen, 5s and many more.

However I was disappointed to see news of business failures despite these vaunted very sound business practices:   Toshiba, Olympus, Sharp and many more.   Perhaps because of too much competition from  Korea and China, they were not able to adopt well.  And more importantly the collapse of the bubble in 1990.

When Lagarde (head of IMF) spoke about world finances, she mentioned that her number 1 problem was Japan.

And this was exacerbated by the 2011 Tsunami and Fukushima meltdown

We plan to visit Japan soon and see how clean and how beautiful and advanced it is.
It is the sincerest wish of this post that she recapture her glorious past and progress.

Thank you so much dear readers from Singapore and Hong Kong.  Highly appreciated!

Responsible gun ownership - self imposed disarmament and gun control

It is more fun criticizing

Who wouldn't want to own a gun after being exposed to WW 2 movies, Combat, and Agila
After completing my reservist CAD, and we were allowed to own guns, I acquired a 45 albeit unlicensed.
Someone who disarmed himself sold me the 45 cheap.

(Before I used to have a Cal 22 magnum but unfortunately stolen in a break in)

I disarmed my self after these three incidents:

1.   A child accidentally shot his brother to death, after getting his father's gun in a lock, opened the
box containing the amo, loaded it into the gun and played bang/bang, cowboy to his younger
      brother killing him

2.  A motorist alighted from his vehicle in a traffic altercation and drew his firearm a 45 or 9 mm,
He did not fire at me.  He was probably a govt agent.  His plate number was TRY 347 and from
     Cardona Rizal, assigned to CIS

3.  I joined an FTX where there was live firing from the opposing team.  We fired blanks.  The smell of
of gunpowder due to continuous, night long skirmish was nauseating.   It occurred to me that given
same firearms, only those who will employ his intellect will win.  Not the one with superior firepower

Owning a gun makes you impulsive, you do not think.   Power comes out from the barrel of the gun.

A gun is demonic.  It invites accidents, injury and even death.

So I divested myself of gun  although it means less family security.   For as long as you are good, I think you will not have enemies.

No need for arrests, RAs, or Executive Order.   Only me wanting disarmament

Food Security update on the Philippines

It is more fun criticizing

Food security in the Philippines

We think the govt is strict about food security.   We are a developer and they are very slow on acting
on land conversion.

More can be done regarding food security:

1.   Supply and demand projection, and planting and production schedules

2.  Tariff protection

3.  Improvement of infrastructures:   and inputs:

    1.  fertilizer and seeds
    2.  Fingerlings, piglets, and cattle
    3.  Strengthening what exists and making them work
    4.  Cold storage
    5.  Solar pumps
    6   Post harvest facilities
    7.  Supply chain
    8.  MBA in Agri courses

4.  Scientific farming:

   1.  Greenhouses, with irrigation
   2.  High value added crops
   3.  Hydrophonics and drip

5,  Corporate farming

It is good that some big companies like MVP group are paying attention to food security.   However their is with high value coco products:   MCTs and buko juice.

Finally Jollibee Food Corporation chicken plant made profit

The CP farms of Thailand have been doing good in the Philippines

6.  Adoption of new technologyies

Secrets, dark side of the Philippines

It is more fun criticizing

Scam warning

Lies about the Philippines:

1.   That we live on trees;
2.   That we have tails like the monkeys;
3.   That most people live in extreme poverty and squatters
4.   That majority work in call centers and are nannies abroad
5.   That many Filipinas works as prosti abroad, are gold diggers
6.   That the govt is corrupt and there is no hope for progress
7.   It is so crime ridden, there are insurgents and unsafe to live
8.   Its economic and banking system sucks
9.   That we are antiquated and so behind in many things
10.  Many things dont work:   power, water, telecom

Rebuttal  point by point

1.   That we live on trees;

These were old tales during the American regime.   Many areas are now deforested so there are
few remaining trees.  Many people still live on farms, like the mayor of Bamban Tarlac a Chinese

Many resorts in mountainsides, above the clouds, with great city or mountain scape have been
      built during the pandemic.

There is a tribe in Mindoro Mangyans but now live in regular homes and wear regular Western                 clothes..   They go to schools.  Their villages are indistinguishable from other villages
2.   That we have tails like the monkeys;

There were few monkeys seen inside Subic bay and at the zoo.  Other than that we have not seen
monkeys.   Read too much on Darwin

      Outdated information.  False
3.   That most people live in extreme poverty and squatters

ADB and the govt have both addressed this poverty problem.   This was at 50% in 2,000.  However
some provinces show a small 10% incidence of poverty.  There is 4Ps program where the poorest
of the poor are given financial assistance in exchange for:   work program, and undertaking to send
      their children to school
4.   That majority work in call centers and are nannies abroad

This is true.   BPO workers and OFW bring in up to 20% of GDP,.  BPO will continue to rise
since this reduces much the labor cost in the West by as much as 100%.

Even in the Philippines we run out of nannies.   Our countrymen seek jobs that pay more than
Philippine wages.  That is why they go abroad. Most of them have college degrees.  But it should
not demean our country men.   Many citizens seek the same route.

But such OFWs have brought in progress to the country:   built houses, established businesses,              intermarried with foreigners.  Brought in investments.   And produced beautiful  Fil Ams.  Euro ams

5.   That many Filipinas works as prosti abroad, are gold diggers
There are many exceptions.  Maybe 1-5%  do.  As they are even in other countries  The desire
for self progress is universal and intense

6.   That the govt is corrupt and there is no hope for progress

As all govt are:   Japan, Indonesia, USA, UK etc are corrupt  Where there is power, there is
corruption, and its absolute.  If nothing moves because of a powerful person or official, you
      are forced to come across.

May be but its not an excuse, our countrymen ape their Western counterparts.   But corruption
must be stopped or even reduced.   Or least, PHL must rise in ease of doing business ranking
7.   It is so crime ridden, there are insurgents and unsafe to live

The NPA, the armed arm of CPP have been under constant attack by PNP and military  Its
leadership has been decimated   Many have gone to peaceful mode of living, and even openly
fought them in media and political front

8.   Its economic and banking system sucks

The current BSP govt worked with Federal Reserve Bank of NY.  Many members of the economic
team are graduates of US investment bank.  So far the economy has been sound.  They have
closed many rural banks and  insurance companies that are weak

PHL has been the darling in economic growth even in pandemic times and even beat top economies
       in progress.

If you go to MoA and BGC it is as if in you are foreign cities.

PHL has a huge FX reserve.  It is projected by foreign think tanks that PHL will be 18th richest
     economy by 2050.

PHL has robust electronix, shipbuilding, real estate, financial businesses.  Its shipping and airlines
      businesses are booming and expanding

Many of economies:  Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia UAE, KSA had many Filipinos as their top
executives.  Its doctors are nurses are some of the world's best
9.   That we are antiquated and so behind in many things

Internet has brought PHL instep with the rest of the world.  SMS in the PHL was ahead of
of US and rest of Asia.  Many infrastructure projects are underway:    subways, light rail transit
      roads and bridges.   RE.

So many great things are underway.

10.  Many things dont work:   power, water, telecom

Occasionally we have water outages, and power outages.   Due to wrong computation of power d
power and supply.  Or due to increase in price of fuel.  But by far and large we are ok.

We have almost free SMS, cp calls are ok.   Netflix, FB, DM works.

SEE FOR YOURSELF AND VERIFY THE LIES

There are crimes, homelessness, street people, street dwellers, graft and corruption anywhere in the world:  developed. less developed, third world country.

Making the poor productive - social philosophy in the 1980s

It is more fun criticizing

It was the in thing in social philosophy while I was taking my masters.  My professor was the Dean, an American Jesuit.

It simply means that rather than teaching mendicancy, we train poor people to be productive, achievers, positive mindset, rather than being clingy and dependent.  Down with welfare state.  Welfare state
have failed, and even oil rich country like Venezuela could not sustain a welfare state.  It resulted in bloated budget, and hyper inflation and a failed economy

The state is a Daddy of human beings in the country.    It is the responsibility of individual to raise and feed his family.

This is a critique of 4ps program in the govt.  The beneficiaries no longer want to work.

I often lecture young ones who apparently look healthy begging. I ask for their fathers and they should ask their fathers for money.   We discourage hard work ambition and good citizenship by giving alms to strong young people.   Big countries experienced hardship and hardwork on their way to progress.  Make no mistake about that

How to make a country rich video  -  Bangladesh.  Not by way of resources but being tops in garment production.   One of most populated countries in the world.  Gained independence in 1972.  Even richer than Pakistan

Are we inching towards a big time conflict?

It is more fun criticizing

World War 1 started on account of the assassination, death of one man Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914. The war lasted until 1918.

All ready we heard Pres.  BBM at Singapore saying that the death of a single naval personnel at West Philippine Sea is tantamount to being an act of war. (Interestingly, his name is also Ferdinand!) Big words.    China countered by issuing an order that anyone who trespasses the Chinese territory, can be held for a number of days.  Still not a nice exchange of words.

Then US sent thousands of war armaments to Subic Bay.  Then there are news that battle forces from the US are steaming towards the WPS.

Are we Filipinos, peace loving at that being drawn into a great risk of war?

Do we want war?

Changing strengths vulnerabilties of war weapons

It is more fun criticizing

The published and actual performances of weapons varies.  It may have to do with climate, the users, and other battle conditions

1. Drones

    1.  The Turkish drones exhibited superior performance in Ukraine war.  However, lately, no niews
          have been heard.
    2.  The Chinese drones are superior in number and cheaper than US drones

2.  Unmanned sea and air vehicles

     1.  More survivability;   less political backlash, less problem in recruitment and training.  The US seemed to be ahead in this

3.  Tanks

1,Merveka tanks of Israel can easily be destroyed by Iranian tanks

     2. Abrams and Bradley tanks -  easy prey to Russian drones and their cheap missile.  The Ukrainians
put another layer of wire mesh protection vs anti tank projectiles.   But now the very expensive
war machines are not sol invincicble after all

4.  Air defense system

With an excellent air defense system, the jet fighters, even the stealth ones become obsolete
However good helicopters with their missile system can defeat from a distance a $400 million
      air defense system

5.  Missile system

As was seen in Israel example, sheer volume of missiles launched, even cruide and cheap ones
can confuse even multiple air defense system.  Even in Iran missile attack to Israel, the defense vs
$500 million missiles launched vs Israel. cost a staggering  $1.5 billion in a matter of hours from
combined naval, air, and land defense system from two powerful countries.  Not cost effective eh

Some lessens:

1.  It is not technological  superiority, it it is sheer volume. The less superior American tanks (but more in number won the tank battless in Europe in WWII M4 Sherman tanks.    Will power and strategy
2.  Survivability, being unmanned is now the name of the game
3.  Aircraft carriers, jet plane and weapons are not preferred anymore.  Missiles and defense system
therofre, the search for superiority shall be in this area

Enemies from within - Trojan war

It is more fun criticizing

The 10 year siege of Troy by Greece was ended with the introduction of the Trojan horse.  A Trojan horse with Greek soldiers in the abdomen was placed in front of the closed gates of Troy.  The horse was taken in by the Trojans,   Once inside the Greek soldiers went out opened the gates and let the rest of Greek Army come in and attack the walled city of Troy

Right now without getting into a war, due to the unrestricted warfare of the other protagonist  we have all ready the Trojan war within:

      1.  Electronic C....e equipment which could have been spying in the country;
      2.  Hundreds of thousands of offshore gaming workers.   They were alleged to have with them
           P...A military uniform
      3.  Citizens with same blood or countrymen (and leaders) who are sympathetic to their nation
      4.  Thousands of  C...e students who are located near strategic locations in the country

If there should be a war, its going to be over once this staets.

Think again if we are going to war.

Good things, benefits, we, the world got from China

It is more fun criticizing

Despite the negatives being mentioned by the world vs China, we should be grateful for many things:

     1.  Its advances in space technology;  it has landed on the moon.  Did it contribute to ISS?
2,  For being the world's manufacturing center -  low cost manufacturing
     3.  Advances in AI, in particular health care
     4.  Cheap household goods to the world;
     5.  Competition that has enabled every one to excel.
6,  Massive contribution to world GDP

We owe them for their contribution to civilization like the gunpowder and many more.   We also learned a lot about their unrestricted warfare.  And how to deal with their strategies

Will it it mean better treatment?  Better quality of life?

First AI Hospital in China can treat 3,000 patients daily

It is more fun criticizing

Artificial intelligence was predicted to revolutionize health care  It is now happening,. By second half of 2024, the first AI hospital in China will open (It is not US).   It is a virtual hospital.   It is going to be lean.  I surmise that cases books, procedures will form the database.  The AI doctors will do the DX and RX treatment

Only 14 Ai doctors will run the hospital and will be called Hospital Agent

Comments say that it could not happen in US, where Boards, Licensing, govt, protect the doctors.

But definitely, costs will go down, healthcare costs will diminish and complaints about exorbitant health care will vanish.  Demand for health care professionals will diminish, medical schools will collapse, but demand for AI doctors and AI experts will increase.

Will this be coming to the Philippines soon to save Philhealth from bankruptcy?

Shall AI end pandemics like Covid 19?

Unrestricted warfare - a new benign slow paced war to be waged in modern era

It is more fun criticizing

We must be aware of how modern war is being waged by enemies  (no one is a friend) towards us and/or Western Countries.  This book was written by PLA officers:   Xiao Liang, and Wang Xiangsui

Ordinarily we think of war as being waged at a battle front with soldiers, tanks, guns artillery. This is not so.  War is to be waged both militarily and elsewhere:   economics, supply lines, commerce, internet, biological  information.   The adversary must not be even aware that a war is being waged, and before he knows this.  The author says that this being waged by China vs Western powers.

We see this happening:

    1.  Hacking internet
    2.  Control of manufacturing
    3. Covid:   vaccines, and supplies
    4.  Currency attacks - dedollarization
    5.  Espionage of industrial secrets
    6.  Recruitment of US servicemen to train its crews

In a war, everyone loses:    cities, buildings, reparations, lives.  In unrestricted warfare, no dead bodies litter the streets.  Only victors

Loss of belief in the justice system

It is more fun criticizing

A sportsmate returned from his hibernation in Baguio yesterday.  I visited him early this morning

He complained his current status of his pending case.

He was a union leader and claimed he was illegally dismissed and his group filed a case of illegal
dismissal vs the employer.  On the other hand, the employer alleged it is all ready bankrupt and could not pay.  They escaped by establishing a new corporation  but the office and officer were the same

They were given a judgement to sell off properties.  Hence they broke into the warehouse of the alleged employer.  They had SWAT team and sheriff with them.  However a case of theft and malicious mischief was filed against them (nabaligtad na) and which merited imprisonment.

He opted for probation being a senior;  however getting the paperworks was tedious.  His companions who fought back vs the case, had a case dismissal.  His probation of only 5 days is far from finished.

He says that the justice system is not working   Just like in the movies, he says that justice system only works for those who can afford good lawyers.  It is no joke to have a lawyer appear for you!

He can only have a consolation, that the former head of the company he worked in died a painful death, and suffered long.  There is Divine Justice at work.

Amen

Increasing Philippines defense capabilities - to lessen bullying?

It is more fun criticizing

Lately through its own initiative and with a little help from its Allies, Philippines is acquiring more lethal weapons:  tanks, ships, air assets, and missiles to increase its defense capabilities.   Showing some military strength and teeth as it were

What do you think of this latest move?  Has Philippines become a hawk and war monger?

Or is it just realistic in face of increasing tension and threat?

Why is Bashi Chanel between Batanes and Taiwan critical in current geopolitical conflict?

It is more fun criticizing

It has become an eyesore an obstacle for the Chinese PLA.  Why?

It will delay PROC reunification with Taiwan?  And US in aid of Taiwan, and in friendship with
with Philippines will make the obstacles real...

Regulators issues CDO vs two insurance companies

It is more fun criticizing

A government watchdog has ordered two non life insurance companies to be placed under conservatorship, probably due to difficulties in compliance with regulations and/or unsound insurance practices.  3 such regulatory bodies have been alert in going after banks, pre need companies, and other parties engaged in violation of Securities Code.

Do you think we need strong government regulations to go after companies operating illegally?

Do you think they should be more developmental rather than regulatory in their approach?

Ease of doing business in the Philippines

It is more fun criticizing

Our company is engaged in a small business in a certain province.   We had to fork out huge amounts to get resolutions from the council.  At the basic level, the community head was asking for PHP xxx  to get the resolution from the community.

There is also a squatter problems  and needs PHP solution.   A portion of that goes to the officials at the local level.

There can be a better way of having ease of doing business?

There are so many reasons why Filipinos should be proud of themselves and move up higher

It is more fun criticizing

We totally forgot we are eagles. We are acting as though we are ants.

1.  We achieved remarkable economic growth for the last 10 years and we are still doing so.
2.  We have one of the highest economic growth in the world
3.  There are so much resources to make us rich:   oil, gas, deuterium
4.   Our BPO and ex pats have helped make other nations rich.  Our engineers, drs. nurses are
       admired through out the world
5.  Our hospitality our good deeds to brethren in need, as refugees is admirable.

So it is needless that some nations belittle our country men.   We deserve the respect and admiration
of the world.  We are on the way to achieving our goal of being a trillion $ nation, and being one of the strongest nations in 2050.

The rise and fall of the land of the rising sun.

It is more fun criticizing

The Japan  miracle growth was orchestrated by US to show that they can help Asian countries become prosperous.

The Japanese miracle from  1950 to 1975.  Due to inflated land prices.  Changes in accounting rules that allowed increasing prices as part of income.  Those days were heydays in the feeling of prosperity and progress of Japan.  The Japanese went on acquisition binge

And bubble burst in 1990.  The stock market crashed, the real estate prices fell down.   The Japanese faced the reality that they were not that wealthy.   From this crash, Japan never recovered.

Japan has one of the highest debt to GDP ratio.  (As USA).  Despite their seeming opulence, Japan has economic and financial weakness.

It is a nice place to visit and value for money because of the low exchange rate for Japan.

New steel smelting plant to be put up in Mindanao: jv between a local mining company and Chinese company

It is more fun criticizing

After debacle with IISMI,  Jacintos, sale  to private company Westmont,  foreclosure by local govt

Since then we import steel from abroad:  we mine the ore send to foreign countries, and import steel at a much higher price

A new plant will be built in Sibugay, creating about 20,000 jobs with capacity for 1 million metric tons of steel capacity

This will help us build our manufacturing capability and join industrialization march of other nations.

There is news that a Cebu steel  Steel Asia mill will invest about PHP 65 billion to invest in new steel mills.  They have been exporting steel to Canada, billion php worth, after supplying steel products to Cebu Cordova bridge project.

They will have the plants in Davao, Tarlac, and Quezon   They have 6 plants in the Philippines with
capacity for 3 million metric tons.

This will help lift Philippines to be a trillion $ economy

Philippines to build own warships in local shipyards

It is more fun criticizing

We have our own capability to build such warships:  frigates, patrol boats, destroyers in private shipyards in Cebu and Zambales and depend less on imports, hand me downs, military alliances.

As to why this was not resorted to may be attributed to the dependence on JUSMAG hand me down.
Old ships and airplanes.  But we can borrow and raise taxes to buy our own armaments.

We are going to be fearsome

Philippines to be 4th world's largest shipbuilder

It has built the world's largest Panamax, and worlds fastest RORO ferry in Balamban.

We can build our own warships too.

Large scale projects that will make Philippines a leader in Southeast Asia

It is more fun criticizing

Result of build, build, build.

Expressways, elevated skyways, subways, bridges between islands, worth USD billions.  PPP projects, RE projects (investments)

It is more fun criticizing Higher than the rest of developing countries. It was double of other developing economy It was more than the G7 and Western countries. I had guest who said invest in places where there is blood on the street

Still the strongest economy performance in 2023 - DOF secretary Ralph Recto

It is more fun criticizing

5.4% in 2023.  Targeting 6%+  in 2024.  We are on track.  If we compound 6% that can double in 10 years.  We just hope it trickles down to the poor.   And the poor becomes productive and not rely on 4ps and hand outs.  We need every one to shoulder the burden of growth and progress

Less obstacle from those issuing permits and enablers.   Ease of doing business

One of the strongest country economically by 2029. watch this happen?1

It is more fun criticizing

The Philippines will be one of the strongest economies in mid century (18th) because of its growing population, more infrastructure (from Build, build, build) -  airports, subway, bridges, railways.

There will be according to Alexa, a 8.2 earthquake in 2029 by the Batangas bay, and Philippines will rebuild to become a very strong country economically.

Finally, we will no longer be discriminated and looked down upon

How Filipinos helped Jews during the holocaust (another video version)

It is more fun criticizing

Late Pres. Manuel L Quezon, US High Commissioner, Paul McNutt, Dwight Eisenhower.   All played key role.

While present generation are anti Jews, Filipinos then helped Jews be saved from German Nazis during the holocaust.

(May be this is the reason why I met Jews who were helping Samar rebuild after the Yolanda super typhoon)

Pres. Quezon helped saved 1,300 Jews from 1937-41; why did other countries did not?

It is more fun criticizing

Pres. Manuel Quezon, said its the right thing to do.

He helped saved 1,300 Jews.  We were not just watching things happen.  We played a great role
in World History.

Phil having a monument in Tel Aviv.  Such a great honor.

We may lag behind other countries in economic prowess, in sports, modernity but not in magnamity

Philippines, the only country that answered the call of IRO for refugees

It is more fun criticizing

Again it was Pres. Quirino who again answered the call for asylum.

Asylum for white Russians at Tubabao Guian, Samar, Philippines

It is sad to note how easily many forget the generosity and benovalence of the Filipino people
(We sent 30 people on college scholarship and we wonder if they still remember or are grateful
for that act)

Being host to Vietnamese refugees; Philippines one of the most hospitable countries to refugees

It is more fun criticizing

Philippines, one of the most hospitable countries to war refugees:    Russians, Jews, Chinese, and Vietnamese

Hoas (Vietnamese with Chinese blood) started being persecuted.   Before there were exit permits that were set so high

It is sad to note that unification often becomes forced (as is the plan for China and Taiwan)

Battle of Yuldong (Yultong)

It is more fun criticizing

7,000 troops sent.  By President Elpidio Aquino.

40,000 troops vs 1,000 Filipino soldiers of 10th BCT.  From a tank battalion to heavy motorized battalion.
The Turkeys and Puerto Ricans left their positions encircling Filipinos

Lt Artiaga and Capt Yap died in the battle. Part of 113 Filipinos who died

On June 25, 1950, 135,000 Chinese and Nokor captured Seoul, Philippines was one of the first countries to help defend South Korea

It is more fun criticizing

7,000 men were sent, as the Philippines was one of the first countries to answer calls to assist South Korea from invading Chinese and North Korean Forces

It was through the leadership of late Pres. Elpidio Aquino.

Before, Filipinos helped Russian Jews in Samar .   In the 70s, Filipinos also played host to some 80,000 Vietnamese refugees in Bataan and Palawan.

Quite a hospitable and generous country to brethren in need

We do not deserve racism discriminations and now this bullying by a giant neighboring countries

Let us not discount the heroism, the bravery, and the camaraderie of Filipinos towards their fellowmen.
Some countries may be making a big mistake in bullying this country

Even the sons of the President went to war.!

Korean war memorial and remembrance of people who died for the freedom of this country

It is more fun criticizing

This is heartwarming for those people who remember the heroism of soldiers who fought for their country.
freedom.

Very touching.

Filipinos must not be discriminated by citizens of this country

It is more fun criticizing

Did you experience discrimination in  Korea (as it is alleged?)

They should not.   Our country was better off than theirs in the 1950s.  Our soldiers helped them defend their country from Chinese and North Korean invaders .  Philippines was one of the first countries to send soldiers to help Korea vs invasion by Nokors and Chinese.  They fought hard and died for them.  Some officers died for them

Show some respect and gratitude.

They would be nobody and could have been prisoners and slaves.

Increasing importance of the Philippines to the world, threats, provocation

It is more fun criticizing

Battle of the giants, ants get squeezed.

Awesome. Warning to the bully, strengthening strategic advantage

It is more fun criticizing

Is it going to be a deterrent to bullying.   So that the bully meet its equal (or master)

All they could get are two islands

It is more fun criticizing

There was a military scenario on what the territories the  invaders could get  They predicted only Palawan and Batanes.  That would be the only realistic target for the invaders given the difficulty for invading numerous islands, amphibious landings  and the intricate supply  lines needed.

That is going to be an expensive conflict.  ight now, they are winners because they are the largest trading partner.  How much they would lose if there is an invasion or a shooting war.

Think again.  Read again Sun Tzu.  That the best strategy is not going into war.    Weigh  options.

Remember the Filipinos at the Battle of Yuldong in Korea

It is more fun criticizing

It is not to be forgotten.   In the 1950s during the Korean war where Filipino soldiers fighting skills were tested.

We remember the bravery and determination of the 900 Filipinos who were with Peftok, vs 40,000 Koreans and Chinese.  They never gave up and killed at least 7,000 Chinese and Koreans.

We honor the bravery and fighting skill of our warriors.  And they did at foreign soil, and not for themselves but for the Koreans.   How much more if they did for themselves. Many officials died fighting.

Let this be a grim reminder

Foreign invaders in Philippine soil.   That would be very challenging for them.  Mention the weather, the difficult terrain.   The Abu Sayyaf and the NPA have proven this.    The Philippine govt cant end their wars

But the majority of _________are law abiding, God fearing (as excuse) for a group of terrorists and imperialists

It is more fun criticizing

This sort of argument is always forwarded for terrorist groups:   Nazi, jihadist, Hamas, Japanese etc.   Only 10%-20% were bad apples, and the majority of the people are good.  They will not hurt a fly.

Only 19 people executed the 9/11 murder in USA, but what did the rest of 1.2 Billion brethren do?
Nothing.

They just let the minority did their heinous crimes, and did nothing.

So right now, we are dealing with many good businessmen Chinese.    Many of them are needed because the majority of them are entrepreneurs, and hence many of them are millionaires and billionaires because they have good business sense, are frugal and hard working.

I have Chinese business partners.  They have been very kind and understanding.  They give us gifts during Christmas, Chinese New Year and remember our birthdays.

And yet we see as small minority and we are offended by their actions who take silly action in WPS that harm us for a little bit of territory for the sake of military and political glory.  Only the heads of CCP and
Xi want glory for imperialism, the Silk and Road initiative (which turned to be a great failure)  The China first (which all leaders use as mantra) is only wanted by a few in a leadership.

Time and time again, we have seen how conquest fail because of the huge expenses and administrative energy needed to maintain the empire/colony

We hope this time the rest of 80-90% of the population of neighboring country see the light and realize that it is better to be at peace and prosperous.

Manpower strength of AFP.

It is more fun criticizing

According to some videos, the PHL Armed Forces is 200,000 strong.  That is 1/10th of the force of the neighboring military giant.   -  100,000 regular force, and 100,000 reservist.   Am a PAF reservist with a rank of Technical Sergeant.  We were mobilized 3 decades ago during the Pinatubo time.  We did a 30 day training,  Reception, military meal, firing M16, 4 o clock jogging, FTX, sleeping outdoor in the rain, bivouac,

Manning VAB ROC, doing relief work at Pinatubo.  Live firing FTX, 3 days 3 nights escape and evasion at Sacobia river.   I preferred to be an EP -  to work with fellow soldiers.

I would be willing to serve in the reserve force, if need be.  I hope not.

Willing to serve for the country.

Para sa bayan

Go on with business, no to war

It is more fun criticizing

We should talk more diplomatically with Chinese.  We do a lot of trading with them.   We have been trading with them for a long time.  The first one being at Oton Iloilo.

As they say modern nations can only go into sable rattling but not war.   There is too much to be lost in case of a shooting war.  Most especially the contracts, supply chain infrastructures.

I just hope the generals see it that way too:   DND and PBBM, from our side, Xi and PLA at China side.

Now is the time, its time to go for it - Philippines to be a $1 trillion company by 2030?

It is more fun criticizing

The Philippines will be a trillion dollar economy by 2030.   That means doubling our GDP in 6 years time. and its very possible to reach this.

And its very possible that we will be in the top 15 economies by 2050.  Lets us go for this.  Let us all work together:   less red tape, faster way of doing things, less corruption.  more cooperation and communication among the stake holders

Why does US have 11 aircraft carriers? Why is China building more? But military experts say they are obsolete!

It is more fun criticizing

Are aircraft carriers obsolete?

Consider the positive side:
1.   Frighten and awe
2.   All latest technology are there;
3.  No need for bases

Negative:
1.  Its vulnerable to missile attack. from land, sea - submarine or frigates.    Even in WW 2, in battle of Midway, one pilot was responsible for sinking of two Japanese aircraft carrier

2.  It is very expensive to construct and maintain.   USD 13 billion to build,  and one billion USD a month.   A floating city,  a disaster waiting to happen.

Now what works:
1.  A fleet of drones, or a a carrier of drones
2.  Missiles:   ballistic or cruise
3.  Air defense.  Those who has the best air defense wins
4.  AI  (but shall we have a Terminator situation?

Not because the aircraft carrier won the war for US in the Battle of Midway, means that it can still work for 21st century.

The best strategy of course is not to go to war.  Make love, peace, not war

How can we say peace, when we are not proposing avoidance of conflict

It is more fun criticizing

Thank you readers.

It is more fun criticizing

There are many viewers.  Most especially from Hong Kong USA

Am grateful.

PHL - a spoiler in Taiwan China conflict

It is more fun criticizing

Phl could make things difficult for China invasion of Taiwan

No longer crude and uncivilized; PHL modernization program ready to resist invaders.

It is more fun criticizing

Philippines is no longer facing its threat with bolos, bamboos spears, bow and arrow, and bolos.
It is finally spending for its defense under the much delayed modernization program.  More planes, more boats, more alliances with its long time allies.

Time to show that we strong.   Silence is often misinterpreted as weakness.

Strength is a deterrent.  No one should call Filipinos chicken and show disrespect.

Never shall invaders.... set their foot on shore.

Did Chinese invade Philippines before? Yes it was led by LImahong but was unsuccessful

It is more fun criticizing

60 -70 junks with  2,000 force in 1574  This resulted in death of Goiti.   The first wave did not result in victory
The second wave was resisted by bigger force led by Don Galo and Salcedo

He led a group of pirates named Wako.   They wanted to set up their own kingdom.   They were the counterpart of Visayans.

Then they fled to Pangasinan.   Then Salcedo sieged Limahong in Pangasinan

Difficult to invade?

It is more fun criticizing

There are 8 reasons.   We hope it does not lead into this.  But at most what the invaders from neighboring country could get only two small minor islands.  There are 7,000 islands, The islands dotted with forests and coastal areas - difficult for amphibious operations, difficult supply lines to maintain.

Natives well versed in guerilla warfare.   Many learning from foreigners from former colonizer, fighting in Korea, Vietnam, UN missions in Middle East and African

We want peace.  We want to be one of the top 20 countries by 2030 in terms of GDP.

The origin country  of Sun Tzu must weigh their + and 1.  As ":provocation" word is mentioned.

PBBM answers Chinese General that WPS issue is a world issue - in Singapore

It is more fun criticizing

Brave President.   Who has the provocation.  1/2 or the World Trade passes through the area.  Thus really freedom of navigation is the issue.   Let there be peace

In the 11th century, the ancient Visayans were terrorizing southern China - lest we forget

It is more fun criticizing

Filipinos should remember that a group of them, the Visayans, were feared by the Chinese.   These were the same group of people that killed the Spaniards when they landed in the 16th century - when they discovered the Philippines.  They rode in ships called Balangays, were heavily tattooed, ,and carried knives, and other bladed weapons

They invaded China for precious metals and to get slaves (early cases of trafficking)

People of Panay and Cebu rise up and relive history!.   So that prospective invaders shall fear and stop.

Now, many folks have forgotten about this and cowing before the mighty military power of a neighboring Asian countries.   The Filipinos and those folks must remember that:

Philippines gets deliveries of military equipment from US at Subic Bay.

It is more fun criticizing

This post will start more posts regarding Philippines.   It is hoped that these posts create more unity among Filipinos and the world

It is hoped that this event sober up hawks in neighboring Asian countries, nor must it draw Philippines into conflict

Is PHL going to be a US proxy vs China
